Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 2

My wife says he just compared his speach inciting the J6 insurrection with MLK's "I have a dream" speech.

He did. His obsession with his crowd size always being the biggest is a perfect example of his very low self-esteem hiding behind extreme narcissism. It's so bad that it doesn't border on mental illness, it invades it like the Wehrmacht going into Poland.

"The biggest crowd I've ever spoken to, and I said peacefully and patriotically, which nobody wants to say, but I said peacefully and patriotically, the biggest crowd I've ever spoken to," he continued. "I don't know who's ever had a bigger crowd than I have, but I had it many times... Nobody's spoken to crowds bigger than me."

"If you look at Martin Luther King, when he did his speech, his great speech, and you look at ours, same real estate, same everything, same number of people," the former president added. "And they said he had a million people, but I had 25,000 people."

"And you look at it, and you look at the picture of his crowd, my crowd, we actually had more people."

Trump, however, said he was "okay with it because I liked Dr. Martin Luther King."

I'm listening to Trump at Mar a Lago. The amount of craziness coming out of his mouth is gobsmacking. It's one lie right after another. Literally. I haven't heard one truthful thing out of his mouth. Not one.

He's really one sick puppy. I could make a Kristi Noem reference here....

That dumbass just admitted in that press address that he is a guilty criminal and he doesn’t even realize that he said it.

I had to stop watching as I couldn't take any more of his crap so I must have missed that. Can you quote him?

I’ll try to paraphrase what I heard him say. I had been watching Netflix and when I cut it off, the TV station that came on had BREAKING NEWS and Trump was speaking. He was saying that he could have put Hillary in jail after he became Prez, implying that there existed some evidence of some criminal activity on her part, except that he chose not to do so because, in all of his magnanimousness, he just couldn’t put the wife of a former president in jail.

Then he goes on to say “but then I get my turn, and they want to put me in jail.” His “turn” to me is that he knows he is guilty but feels he should be treated the way he supposedly treated Clinton.

The obsession with crowd size is so weird. Not only can we plainly see that he's lying, but no one would care if he didn't say anything. Washington's first innaugural address had like 50 people in the room.

Shady Vance was a self-proclaimed Never Trumper.

True, true, but his change to a Trumper was awhile ago, and it happened over time.

"Never-Trumpers" means Republicans who said they'd never support Trump, at least not in a primary against other Republicans. But history has already shown twice that they do vote for him in the general election, when he's the only Republican left. I don't know why anybody would expect that to change the third time.

I didn't know there was a wave of never trumpers that voted for Trump, sure there are standouts, but I consider never trumpers to be equivalent to the Lincoln Project. I guess I should acknowledge that there are varying levels of never trumpers I suppose.

So many, Vance, Cruz McConnell, Hayley, heck the handful of Republicans who have stuck to their guns are the exception.

Right but they all flipped after Donald had either won POTUS or got the nomination. They didn't vote for him to become the candidate in the primary, from what I can tell. I view that differently but as I said above, there are varying degrees of never trumpers I guess.

That's the point I was making - most so-called Never Trumpers seem to change their minds as soon as the time comes to cast their ballot.

Right, my point was I don't think "most" do that. I think "some" do that, but "most" either write in or vote 3rd party.

Sheesh. The man is nuts.

78 million people voted for President Trump in the last election millions more than in 2016. That's millions of Never Trumpers voting for him.

You may be confusing the Republican word "never" with the one in the dictionary.

Trump's entire base is built of people who don't support him. At least not in the same way people support other candidates.

Be honest. When was the last time you met a Trump supporter who wasn't some minor variation on one or more of:

- "I'm not a Trumper. Don't you dare call me a Trumper. I demand you retract your slanderous accusation that I am a Trumper. Now if you'll pardon me I have to get back to agreeing with everything he does, attacking anyone who disagrees with him, and talking entirely in his talking points."

- "I'm not a Trumper. Can't stand the guy. You gotta believe me. *Beat* BUT Totallynotarussianbot on Twitter said Kamala wanted to replace the Bible with Strap On Dildos in every hotel room, so *shrugs* my hands are tied."

- "I'm not a Trumper but LOL it's so funny how much he gets under the liberals skin."

- "I'm a Trumper and my reason is something factually and provably wrong."

- "I'm a full-on troll and not even trying to hide it."

- "I'm an edgy nihilist mentally stuck at 13 years old and I've dumped all of my stat points into 'Everything sucks and nothing is ever going to get better' and the idea of anyone doing good physically hurts me."

Trump isn't a candidate and isn't operating as one if the traditional sense. He's a punishment. The worse he gets, the better he is doing his job.

Sane genius Trump today gave another of his totally coherent and brilliant speeches:
“[Walz is]radical left, uh, man that is — he’s got things done that he, he’s got positions that it’s not even possible to believe that they exist. He’s going for things that nobody’s ever even heard of. Heavy into the transgender world. Heavy into lots of different worlds having to do with safety. He doesn’t want to have borders. He doesn’t want to have walls. He doesn’t want to have any form of safety for our country. He doesn’t mind people coming in from prisons ... He couldn’t care less.”

78 million people voted for President Trump in the last election millions more than in 2016. That's millions of Never Trumpers voting for him.

And millions who voted for Biden that did for Trump, I would guarantee it, but this isn't some hill I'm going to die on. I've said my piece and I'm good with it. I don't run into never trumpers because I live in NoDak. They're just...Trumpers. I don't see it like you do, but that's super common between you and I.

If you think MORE never trumpers are going to come out and vote for Trump in 2024 than did in 2020 then, ok. I don't. I think you're wrong and I don't think you're portrayal is accurate, but that's only because I live in the heart of it. Do you.

He's an absolute ****

On a different note, Trump actually agreed to debate Harris on ABC:
Former President Donald Trump says he has agreed to an offer from ABC News to debate Vice President Kamala Harris on Sept. 10.

Trump said so during a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago Club on Thursday.

Harris also confirmed her participation in the debate. Source
