Guiliani Suspended from Practicing Law

Giuliani has to pay creditors' legal expenses asap.

In the agreement filed Wednesday, Giuliani will give his lawyers $100,000 to help pay the creditors’ financial adviser, New York-based Global Data Risk, and pay the rest of the firm’s expenses from the proceeds of selling either his New York City apartment or Florida condominium, which are worth an estimated $5.6 million and $3.5 million, respectively, according to court documents.

Global Data Risk is also allowed to put liens on the New York City and Florida properties to make sure Giuliani pays all its fees, under the agreement.

Rachel Strickland, a lawyer for Freeman and Moss, said in a court filing earlier this month that Global Data Risk racked up $400,000 in expenses during the bankruptcy case.

Maybe have to sell both? But then where would he live?

Excuse me Mr Mayor, you need a couple bucks?

:(

ISTM that the US legal system is "broken" when people who have substantial judgements against them never have to pay them because they drag out appeals and bankruptcy processes indefinitely whilst still enjoy their current lifestyle.

My own betting is that the same tactics can be used in the UK Legal systems.

Well, Trump held him a not-so-secret fundraising dinner a while back, but no, I don't know the current state of his legal representation.

Can he still represent himself if he's disbarred?

In the US, even if you are not a lawyer, you have the right to represent yourself. So yes, he can represent himself.

My own betting is that the same tactics can be used in the UK Legal systems.

Than IMO you'd lose that bet

Partly because in the UK you can't go judge shopping and you can't play one state off against the other and partly because we have a politically independent judiciary.

Newsweek is reporting that Giuliani has made a last minute deal with the bankruptcy court.
The last-minute agreement to formally end his Chapter 11 case means that Giuliani, who is facing a string of money difficulties in legal cases, will not be forced to answer questions about his financial circumstances in a bankruptcy court.

As part of the agreement, Giuliani will hand over $100,000 to his lawyers at the Berger, Fischoff, Shumer, Wexler & Goodman firm to help pay off some of the Global Data Risk debt. Giuliani will pay off the rest of the money he is owed by selling off his apartment either in New York or Florida. Newsweek news link

By the way, there appears to be a misstatement in the article. It's written, "Giuliani will pay off the rest of the money he is owed," and probably should read "Giuliani will pay off the rest of the money he owes..."

Trump stopped phoning him, or even returning his calls, way before then, for a variety of reasons, including the fact that Trump owes him money.
It will be fun to see creditors go after Trump to recover that money.

The latest, from the BBC:
Two US election workers who successfully sued Rudy Giuliani for over $140m (£106m) for defamation have asked a court to seize some of his assets. Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss have filed a court order asking the former New York City mayor to relinquish multiple properties, dozens of luxury watches, a Mercedes-Benz and other personal items in the next seven days.

Their lawyers accused Mr Giuliani of a history of “evasion, obstruction, and outright disobedience" and said "that strategy reaches the end of the line here". Mr Giuliani is currently appealing the defamation judgement. "The appeal of the objectively unreasonable $148 million verdict hasn't even been heard, yet opposing counsel continues to take steps designed to harass and intimidate the mayor," Mr Giuliani's spokesman Ted Goodman said in an email to Reuters. Poor Rudy. And all he did was use lies and deceit to destroy these two women's lives.

......................Huh?

Rudy is crying he doesn't have enough money to buy food. Apparently, just a few hours ago Giuliani posted a crowd-funding link on X asking for a quarter-million dollars. In just a few hours the fund has reportedly raised $115,615.

Giuliani was in court last Thursday where Judge Lewis Liman ordered Giuliani to begin making payments on the judgement awarded to the two Georgia election workers he defamed. Liman gave Giuliani until this Thursday to begin satisfying the judgement or face "severe sanctions."

Still never misses a chance to shoot himself in the foot.

After appearing in court last Thursday, Giuliani told reporters outside that he had no regrets about defaming the two women after he falsely accused them of election fraud. Independent article link
