Beau of the Fifth Column: Kamala Harris' campaign has gained significant momentum, way more than can be ascribed to margin of error.
Are you kidding? It goes on in almost every state. Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville didn't live in Alabama when he was elected. He lived in Florida. Herschel Walker didn't live in Georgia when he ran for the Senate there. He lived in Texas. Buttigieg can go anywhere

A career in politics is a a career in criminality. Again: It's legal for legislators to engage in insider trading. Do you think this is a good thing? Did you ever vote for it? Kamala Harris was a Senator. Did she ever speak out against it? Do you believe that as president she will take a public stand against this unethical nonsense?
No. You're just hoping her brand of grift will win out against another brand of grift. If we're voting for grift, then I'm voting against the jackasses who keep lying to me about how their grift isn't a grift.
Federal law has long banned insider trading, making it illegal for an employee of a business to buy or sell stock based on proprietary information. The provision is intended to prevent people in a company from having an advantage over outsiders.
That clearly wouldn't apply to members of Congress, since they aren't company insiders. But court rulings and regulations imposed over decades have made the reach of the law broader. In the language of the Securities and Exchange Commission, it's a violation to trade stock based on "material, nonpublic information obtained as part of a relationship of trust or confidence."
Congress appeared to apply that concept to itself when it passed the Stock Act in 2012. It amended securities law to say that all senators and representatives owe a duty of trust and confidence to the nation with respect to material, nonpublic information they obtain in the course of their official duties. That expanded on existing ethics rules that forbid members of Congress to use information they gain as part of their official duties in order to make a private profit.
The law does not provide for a criminal penalty, but violators can face substantial fines.
B. Buttigieg. I heard an interesting analysis of him as a possible running mate. He's basically a living shibboleth of the college educated elite lefty and will bring no votes that Harris is not already getting. I'm curious because I like Buttigieg but I also agree, not a great choice for the VP because he doesn't bring anything to the table Harris doesn't already have. Same for Newsom, though my feeling is Newsom actually brings more negatives than Buttigieg.
I'd like Buttigieg to run for the senate in NY or CA have a 10 ish years there then run for the POTUS.
For someone described as a "topless model", she sure keeps her insta pretty tame. It's mostly her knitting, which is superb, by the way.
I suspect she's being labelled as a "topless model" because once years ago she did a bit of a racy shoot. It's not really a fair label.
Ms Emhoff, 25, has modelled topless at New York Fashion Week,
Much higher profile with NY specifically. HRC and RFK both tried it despite having no connection to the state prior. Sure, I describe it in a blatantly cynical way, sure. No idea about Tuberville, but at least walker was born in and grew up in Georgia. Not exactly the same as running for office in a state you've never lived in before.
@ThaiBoxerKin, you write that as though I think its a good thing that qualifications only matter if its the other side.
Aside from that, having held public office isn't the only qualification that matters, though Trump has shown it does matter.
Dr. Oz ran in PA and movied there in order to run for the Senate. He went to medical and business school in Philadelphia 4 decades ago. He didn't live there before or after.

What are the qualifications for POTUS?
That's a good reason. The idea that he would be carpet bagging is a stretch. He grew up in South Bend Indiana because his father was a professor there. He lived in New York, Boston and London. Also, Illinois might prove attractive. South Bend is almost a suburb of Chicago, 80 miles away.
As I said, he can pick anywhere. I'm not sure where he lives now.
Bought a home in Traverse City, Michigan, the hometown of his husband, Chasten.
Actually I kind of like Vance. Apparently his is being Hilleried for having an opinion. I meant pilloried.

I'm actually surprised how well the Harris campaign has done, the whole show has hit the ground running and is attacking T****y at his weak points from the start.
Looks like I was wrong in predicting it would be too late to replace Biden.
