Why would it be "statistically impossible" for Trump to have been hit in an ear? It should be no more or less likely than being hit in any other similarly sized area.

Remember according to his supporters, when Trump talks about the 2020 election being stolen that could in no way have incited the Jan 6th attack on the Capitol. When he talked about '2nd amendment people' he certainly wasn't risking some nut taking that as a call to take potshots at Clinton or her theoretical Supreme Court nominees. But when Biden calls him a crook and a threat to democracy precisely because he won't accept the results of a free and fair election Biden might as well have thrust the gun into the shooter's hand.

If the kid had the first clue what he was doing, yes he should have been able to. A center of mass head shot of a stationary target is well within the competency of even a moderately capable shooter. For perspective, the farthest target on the US Army pop-up range is 400 meters (or was the last time I fired on one which was a minute or two ago).

How, though? Maybe it will energize people who weren't going to vote at all? Otherwise, as someone pointed out, the gunshot does not really increase the MAGA base. I don't really know that it would get very many people to change their votes.

It would be if that is what the shooter was aiming to do.

With an AR at the range of the shooting the accuracy of an average AR is an area bigger than an ear.
 
/sigh I thought a skeptic forum would at least be somewhat of a haven away from the conspiracy nonsense.

It's way too early, we barely know anything and even the fact that the guy was a registered republican means nothing. People register to parties for many reasons including just voting against people or getting into their spam to know when conventions like this would take place.

It doesn't cost us anything to just sit and wait for actual facts.

I'm assuming proper investigators have already started going over his possessions and they'll shed more light on what the guy was about.

Only thing I will say for sure, is no matter what they find, both sides will still insist on stupid conspiracy theories.






In even more dreadful news, various right wing politicians across the globe are already screaming this is all left media propaganda's fault.
