American dictatorship/autocracy - what will it look like?

When the USA turns into a dictatorship/autocracy, what do you think will it look like?
Will it just be like any other authoritarian regime, with mass surveilllance, controle of the masses, very restrictive etc.?
Or will it be more like a mix between 'The Purge' and 'Mad Max' (obviously hyperbolic, but you can guess what I mean)?

I guess, even in MAGA territory, there are very different visions on how an ideal United States of Trumperica is going to look like. Some very conservative and restrictive people on one side vs some very freedom oriented people on the other.

To open the list of things that will happen down the lane:

- Everyone will be required to carry. People not carrying are going to be arrested, either by the police or via citizen arrest.

I am not sure that that would happen.

Too many of those with the wrong color skin will have the ability to defend themselves.

More likely they will "encourage" people to carry guns, but find ways to ensure minorities or other "undesirables" don't have them.

There will be lots of people proclaiming how much freedom they have. Sure they don't have clean air or water, schools are just there to train their kids for an Amazon warehouse, and they can't afford day to day expenses, but at least the government doesn't opress them by using their tax dollars on "those people".

I think maiking the US into a dictatorship is not going to be as easy as some peole think, even if Trump wins.

Sure they don't have clean air or water, schools are just there to train their kids for an Amazon warehouse, and they can't afford day to day expenses, but at least the government doesn't opress them by using their tax dollars on "those people".

But just like the electoral certification continued, so will the States. If Trumpanzees did, somehow, someway, find enough balls to actually try to do this, we might lose our patience. What might be the salvation of the US is hte very thing that a lot of people..A lot of Euros in particular don't like about us; We are a pretty rowdy bunch. In the end, we don't like to be ruled.

One of the problems with the net is we have way too many Intellectual Wannabes who see themselves as exponents of Existantial despair.
And of course, it is a wonderful excuse for not really taking any action.

I actually have some strong concerns about this. We're already seeing SCOTUS redrawing American society in a way that illustrates Viktor Orban's credo: 'It doesn't matter what the law is if you have the judges.'

I think what could happen, should trump get back in the White House, is to have some crisis fanned, inflamed and orchestrated to use as a pretext for trump declaring martial law (as trump and his allies had previously considered doing). I can almost envision the news stories:

I think there are a number of things that politicians could call for banning or censoring and the bulk of their voters would go along with, especially in the name of public safety or national security.

On paper there's definitely a cultural difference that makes this more difficult here. But then again we didn't think Trump's movement would survive and hold strong to this day.

The Earth will keep getting warmer, but you won't hear much about it because scientists and educational institutions will find their funding threatened. Overt religious control of government institutions will become easier because of favorable court rulings -- but only the right religions of course. Voting will become harder -- no more mail ballots, early voting, or readily accessible polling stations in areas where the wrong people live. School curriculums will be increasingly restricted -- no sex education, CRT, or woke ideologies allowed!
