Cont: Luton Airport Car Park Fire III

My bad, I should have realised earlier that the 'latest announcements' and revelations were nothing of the sort; simply hack, Phil Page, presenting old news as new. The British press is very different from the US press and other parts of the world. For example, the etiquette in the UK when there is an official investigation, be it a trial, a public inquiry or an investigation into a fire, such as this one, the press do not as a matter of protocol ask questions until the report is out. It's rare for things to leak as the national press has legal advisers to block unofficial stuff or things that might cause legal problems, such as stating something that later needs to be retracted as inaccurate. That is the protocol, so there is not much point in discussing this case until the report is published. September, according to the BBC. So yes, an embargo for sure as we have been told the make of such vehicles in the past but also just de rigueur to wait for the report.
Twaddle.

Nope, the story you quoted said that the statement was made "at the time of the blaze". It wasn't presented as "the 'latest announcements' and revelations", it was included as background in a story about the impact on a wheelchair user of losing his car in the fire.

As I recall there was much jubilation when it was reiterated that it was not believed to be an MEV, PHEV or full-EV.

It could be a hoax, who knows? The problem with X-Twitter is that there are people who think it amusing to start a rumour...

You mean like starting a rumour about a fire starting in an EV, based on nothing more that a couple of comments left on a story on the the Daily Mail website?

Oh, sorry, that wasn't on Twitter, was it?

It's a pity you haven't been able to take more recent information into account, such as, for example, this press release dated 21st March 2024.

Everything in that press release - which is simply a clarification of the first one - was already reported in all of the papers. It said on day one that the guy drove a vehicle that was already on fire into the car park.

I don't feel inclined to regard your recollection as reliable, given that you have forgotten that the post you were replying to was about your claim that the stuff about the lack of sprinklers was "latest news", and you trying to blame journalists for your failure to understand the phrase, "at the time of the blaze".

Gee, you mean they're still saying it was a diesel car? What are we to make of the fact that they're still saying that? I mean they started out saying it was probably a diesel, and later said that it was definitely a diesel. Why can't they be more consistent? Inquiring minds want to know.

They were rejoicing on the roof next to the one with all the Muslims celebrating the 9-11 attack.

You seem not to understand the maths and physics. Steel is a mixture of iron and carbon that can melt at between 1,371-1,540°C. The melting point of steel can vary because of the different elements it contains, which can cause melting point depression. Diesel burns at a recorded maximum temperature of 1,150 °C under controlled conditions. This is insufficient even to buckle steel used in construction. However, a lithium-ion car battery burns much more fiercely. The burning lithium creates a metallic fire existing at temperatures of 2,000 °C. As you know, the steel rebars buckling caused the concrete floor/s to collapse and it is likely that the concrete itself didn't just spall, as in the Liverpool fire, but actually melted, although we shall have to see what the report says.

(Attempting to douse the fire with water is inadvisable since this could lead to a hydrogen gas explosion. However, the effect of cold water sprinklers can lessen the effect of other cars igniting so quickly.)

That obviously should read as I state elsewhere the lack of sprinklers had an impact on the fire. This again is not a new statement. Hopkinson said all this on 11 Oct 2023.

But you pretended, yesterday, that it was "the latest news", remember:
The latest news is that the fire was due to 'a lack of sprinklers' and this will be rectified in future.

You then pretended that a journalist had presented it as "the 'latest announcements' and revelations", despite the story you quoted having clearly identified the statement about the lack of sprinklers as something that had been said at the time of the fire:
My bad, I should have realised earlier that the 'latest announcements' and revelations were nothing of the sort; simply hack, Phil Page, presenting old news as new.

You seem to have forgotten (among other things) that the fire spread beyond the vehicle in which it started.

It can be a diesel and still be a hybrid. Not all of the early mild hybrids were registered as such.

The guys in the Beds F&FR website communications team really do not have any input into the report.

Vixen won't regard anything that says it was a diesel vehicle as being more up to date information. It can only be more up to date if it says it was an EV.

This is horribly wrong, and your "You seem not to understand the maths and physics" is beyond laughable. It all echoes the very worst of 9/11 Truther scientific ignorance.

Get some scientific education before pontificating about scientific matters, eh?
