Cont: Roe v Wade overturned - this is some BS part II

I noticed the use of that phrase, too, and thought what a silly remark it was. "Abortion enthusiasts"? Is having an abortion a sport? An enjoyable social event? Do women get together and discuss their favorite abortion over a glass of wine and hors d'oeuvres?

Don't the Abortion Olympics happen every 4 years? Isn't 2024 an Abortion Olympic year or does it happen the same years as the winter Olympics? I can never remember.

CNN has a contest for "Abortion Enthusiast of the Year" every December.

Can someone please explain the emergency abortion scenario to me? Like the actual medicine involved?

My understanding is that pediatricians do not abort children to save mothers. Rather, they remove the child and do their best to keep both child and mother alive.

Is there even any living doctor who claims they had to kill the fetus to save the mother? They literally had no other choice?

The ideal is, we don't kill fetuses unless we absolutely have to. But abortion enthusiasts seem to be waving this red herring as a distraction from abortions of convenience.
Fornication enthusiasts, you mean.

So the Alabama Supreme Court has now ruled that frozen embryos are children under Alabama law.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The Alabama Supreme Court has ruled that frozen embryos can be considered children under state law, a decision critics said could have sweeping implications for fertility treatment in the state.

The decision was issued in a pair of wrongful death cases brought by three couples who had frozen embryos destroyed in an accident at a fertility clinic. Justices, citing anti-abortion language in the Alabama Constitution, ruled that an 1872 state law allowing parents to sue over the death of a minor child “applies to all unborn children, regardless of their location.”

“Unborn children are ‘children’ ... without exception based on developmental stage, physical location, or any other ancillary characteristics,” Justice Jay Mitchell wrote in Friday’s majority ruling by the all-Republican court.

You know just when I begin to think Republicans couldn't make any more batcrap crazy arguments, I read posts like this. "abortion enthusiasts"???

As if people have abortions for sport. Could an argument possibly be more disingenuous?

Why?

It's fascinating, IVF clinics have always been the leather-wearing bikers to the little old ladies in fur of non-rich women: no paint-thrower dared approach. Now the wealthy see the effects that they've been insulated from for almost two years (after it not being a threat for some fifty years).

Given the grounds for dismissal which were not upheld by this court ruling it is a wide-ranging decision.

I wonder how can IVF created embryos be disposed of that wouldn't now be considered killing a person? Another question it raises - and I am asking seriously - what happens if someone stops paying for their embryos to be stored? Previously the last resort would have been the destruction of the biological material but since that will now be considered killing a person that's off the table. Will the storage facility have to chase for child support payments? If a storage facility goes bankrupt who will have to pay for the embryos to be stored?

Can of worms indeed.

The original meaning of 'fornication' is vaulting, in the sense of a building's structure. Or specifically a vaulted cellar. The common modern meaning derives from the use of such arches spaces by prostitutes. In the same way the latin 'fornus' refers to an arched oven, usually of brick.

Indeed. My wife immediately thought of the situation where one both of the parents die. Will the state have to carry the costs of storing the embryos, or find a woman willing to get pregnant with these embryos? Or should such responsibility go to the heirs?

I'm a bit confused - isn't it usually oocytes and sperm that a frozen?
I thought embryos are only frozen when during invitro fertilization too many take and only 2-3 will get implanted, saving the others for a second attempt.
How many frozen embryos are there, actually?

I have a six pack I keep out on the back porch along with one of the Hunter Biden laptops.
