He didn't tweet for about 24 hours after the poll. But it was noticed that he "liked" some other posts such as a poll that another poster had made asking if Twitter was better since Elon Musk took over. The result was positive, so Musk liked it.

You know, that is the kind of very sad behaviour that makes me feel sorry for the guy.

I don't know which is worse, walking away like a quitter or being voted out by millions. He's disturbed so I'm glad I can't predict his moves. He and Trump would make a great team.
 
Elron is such a privileged twit that has been surrounded by sycophants his entire adult life that of course he thinks that any election he loses must be rigged (now where have we heard that before?)

When I first suggested that Elon might be using it as an excuse to bow out in response to the expression of extreme doubt that Elon would abide by the results, I counted it as a plausible scenario. I withheld any judgement of probability, though, because Elon just not abiding by the results would be entirely plausible, too, and I'm not even going to pretend to care about Elon enough to want to try to get into his head and try to figure out probabilities. I think that it's a little early to conclude either way, though, for the moment. Not for long, though.

As a Tesla owner and shareholder, I hope this has a positive effect on Tesla’s prospects and share price. Just the perception of him being less distracted may help, whether he has much say in day-to-day operations or not.

The long term prospects for Tesla are probably better without Musk. The medium term prospects for its share price are probably dire without him.

I think the company is in trouble and having an idiot like Musk in charge won’t help. Unfortunately for you, the share price is still inflated thanks to the Elon effect and without him, it will return to a more sane level.

Nobody with a blue check mark has more skin in the game than Twitter’s creditors, investors and even the advertisers. I think Musk should be listening to them first.

If it weren’t for the fact that many people lost their jobs and many others are now working exploitative hours, I’d say everything Musk has done since he took over Twitter has been absolutely hilarious. Even the thing with the wash basin was funny, but not in the way he thinks.

If he banned all the yes voters, it would be the icing on the hilarity cake.

Kim Dotcom and "masterful gambit" can only go together in a sentence if there's a "wouldn't know one if it bit him on the arse" between them.

While the US case against Dotcom is a disgrace, the man gigantic tub of lard is a disgusting human being whose opinion is worth nothing. No surprise Musk liked it.

Based on Musk's subsequent actions he was fully expecting his fanboys to give him a large "endorsement" to stay on by grovelling at the foot of his twitter feed.

Like all man-children Musk craves validation.
 
I actually really wish he wasn’t doing this.

I know a lot of people had him pegged as a charlatan from the start and they may have been right. But that said he almost certainly has brought value to Tesla and SpaceX just by wrangling the talented engineers and generating the necessary hype. I never bought into the idea that he was some kind of mercurial genius (unlike some on these forums), but I do think SpaceX and Tesla are good things.

Now Musk is apparently arguing with a Tesla investor on Twitter. As usual, Musk presumably thinks his comebacks are witty and clever, but they are stupid and so is his general approach to Twitter.

Agreed... but are they better off with Musk at the helm, than a more normal and competent CEO? I don't think so.

ETA: wow... TSLA losses now surpass half a trillion in market cap for the year.

Tesla would have been a better thing (but not so massively overvalued) without Musk, and without SpaceX, NASA would have been much further along in the rocket programme.

You could be right and I don’t know. I think it is too easy to assume all this would have happened anyway or even better. I don’t think we can know that. But it is pretty clear he is doing a lot of harm to Tesla right now and pretty clear his purchase of Twitter is a pretty massive disaster.
