Merged Musk buys Twitter!/ Elon Musk puts Twitter deal on hold....

Sorry, make that 57-43 with one hour to go.

Looks like he'll be back at Tesla tomorrow morning.

Not sure I get this doxxing thing. This seems to be a common definition:

“Doxxing (also spelled doxing) is the act of revealing someone's personal information online. Doxxing is a form of online harassment that means publicly exposing someone's real name, address, job, or other identifying data.”

How exactly does this apply to a public figure? If a reporter reports “We have on good information that Kamala Harris is headed to the Souther Border Thursday, possibly with a stop a El Paso to visit a refugee center there.” Is that doxxing? Once you know Elon’s plane’s N number*, it’s trivially easy to track it on a program such as FlightAware. All the banned fellow did was aggregate readily available public information. That doesn’t seem like “doxxing” to me.

Musk is complaining about everybody doxxing him, so it's only right to report that tweeter for doxxing his then current location.

I know it's musk. But still, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander

I get a loading error when trying to look at the specific webpage but some people have taken screenshots. Looks like even at the tweet level you cannot post your username on other sites even if you don’t use your URL.

Apparently “cloaking” by using words like “dot” in plain text also violates the rule.

Musk is going to make his remaining staff work pretty hard on the mass purge that will now take place.
Not TikTok, is Musk looking for someone to take the mess off his hands?

I seem to remember he already weeks ago announced he would step down after he was done shaking up Twitter? So at most we're talking moving up a planned action by a small amount of time?

And it can be safely assumed that regardless of when it happens, Musk fully intends to replace himself at Twitter with someone who matches his philosophy and intentions exactly and almost certainly someone who will defer to Musk's direction on various major and minor management decisions whether or not Musk is "officially" in an executive position.

So this poll and its result don't really have a function beyond serving as a public indictment of Musk personally - which, to be fair, is a perfectly good function.

Surely now that Elon Musk has been voted out of the CEO role he'll have to find an obsequieous toady competent professional to take the reigns.

And it looks like there is no shortage of offers from people who will apparently do anything for Musk.

Take Lex Fridman. While first of all agreeing with Musk's comment that those who want power are the ones who least deserve it, he suddenly throws his hat in the ring asking for power. Lex, perhaps realizing that agreeing with Musk's earlier comment like a good bootlicker should, implies he thought Musk did not deserve power, agreed to give up his life-savings. He's like Abu in that meme.

As of now, 6:40 pm, US Central standard time, December 18, 2022, the vote stands at 58% YES.

57% “Yes” seems to be the final result with 17,502,391 votes cast.

Voice of God and all that.

Speculation is that while Musk was attending the World Cup, Arab backers of the Twitter purchase strongly encouraged him to step down and the “poll” was just a face saving way for him to do so.

As a Tesla owner and shareholder, I hope this has a positive effect on Tesla’s prospects and share price. Just the perception of him being less distracted may help, whether he has much say in day-to-day operations or not.

If anyone believes that the poll is fair and/or that Musk will abide by the results, I have a bridge to sell you.

Why wouldn't it be fair, and why wouldn't he abide by the results?

It's pretty much a guarantee that Musk had someone lined up to take over before he even asked the question. He doesn't have to cheat and he doesn't have to reneg if he was ready to step down before he even posted it. The illusion isn't that the poll was rigged, but that it was spontaneous.

If he was ready to do it and that was his intention then why have the ******* poll at all? He could just say, "Now that I have things in the direction I want them going in, I'm going to hand over control to bootlicker_01 to keep driving my vision forward as I get back to work on other projects."

I can't imagine how Tesla is better off with Musk's hands on it vs. him being distracted and having it run the way it is now, but there are a bunch of reasons why your statement makes no sense.

In that scenario, what would he have done if he had won?

Told the replacement that he wasn’t needed after all and go back to personally moderating the entire site?
