Tesla Stock Marches Higher Then Reverses As Musk Says 'No One Wants The Job'

Oppenheimer downgraded them.... honestly even without Musk screwing them up, I can't see TSLA ever justifying their market cap. For that to happen A) BEV's need to be the dominate form of passenger vehicles and B) Tesla needs like a quarter of the worlds vehicle sales. A will probably happen in 20 or 3 years, part B.... no, everyone else is catching up to them.

57% “Yes” seems to be the final result with 17,502,391 votes cast.

Voice of God and all that.

Speculation is that while Musk was attending the World Cup, Arab backers of the Twitter purchase strongly encouraged him to step down and the “poll” was just a face saving way for him to do so.

As a Tesla owner and shareholder, I hope this has a positive effect on Tesla’s prospects and share price. Just the perception of him being less distracted may help, whether he has much say in day-to-day operations or not.

He sure is a snappy dresser.

If he was ready to do it and that was his intention then why have the ******* poll at all?

It generates attention. Why does it need any more explanation than that?

In that scenario, what would he have done if he had won?

Told the replacement that he wasn’t needed after all and go back to personally moderating the entire site?

Oh, I suspect he knew which way the poll would go. It wasn't hard to figure out. But had the unlikely happened, then the person replacing him could still effectively replace him, just not in name, until some time had passed.

I believe it's the prospect of Musk being able to vacuum up enough real-world data for his AI to achieve level 5 autonomous driving first, and then to parlay that massive advantage into truly autonomous systems and robotics that has driven the cap into orbit. I'm not guaranteeing that will happen, of course. But I believe that's the bet.

Why assume that? This is from the 5D chess school of thought.

He has now posted that he will restrict future polls to subscribers...

A real man of the people.

And he's going to ban any "deep state bot" account that voted against him. Because he can tell which ones those are.

Not sure if he is actually going to ban them. But again, Kim Dotcom's assumption is of the "masterful gambit, sir" toadying view that Musk set up the poll to weed out his enemies.

Apparently it wouldn't bother the Musk fanbois if true.

But also, it is pretty clear what type of weirdos that Musk reads and responds to. People such as Kim Dotcom, The Quartering, Robert F Kennedy Jr.... various other right-wing/conspiratorial trolls.

I'm sure he'll claim he didn't know who she was... but dude... uhhh wtf...

To be fair to Elon Musk, and I am always fair, I saw the video of this picture being taken and he really did not seem to know who she was. She just ran up to him and asked him for a selfie. He was wandering around looking a bit dazed and obliged, then looked confused after she took the picture and walked off.

No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor.

Lol, ohhh no one out there at all, at any price... really? Sounds like he's making excuses to not honor his own poll results.

But what happened to him knowing what the result would be?

It’s weird how Elon Musk appears to accept Kim Sitcom’s claim that bots had defeated Musk in that poll.

I thought Musk’s appointment was supposed to bring about the end of bots. Don’t tell me that he hasn’t managed to do r after all.

Oh wait, I meant “masterful gambit, sir!”

His quote doesn't mean he can't find someone to run the company. It means he can't find someone to buy the company. This is unsurprising given that nobody would pay $20 billion, let alone $44 billion to make Muskrat whole.

Well, he does find the idea "interesting". And Musk has stated repeatedly his commitment to delete twitter "bots". Seems pretty clear to me where this thing is headed.

The way you can know for sure that Musk won't ban people who voted yes is that if he did, it would be absolutely hilarious, and nothing Elon does is funny.

I suspected that Elon was creating the poll knowing it would go against him, which gives him an excuse to walk away without looking like a quitter (will of the people and all that). Now, I'm not so sure.

Somebody on Twitter recommends that only paid users should be able to respond to polls, and Elon promises that Twitter will make that change. Seems like he's not happy with the result.

You didn't find Musk calling for a do over after losing his un-suspend poll, followed by losing the do over even worse, funny? I thought that was hilarious.
