Merged Musk buys Twitter!/ Elon Musk puts Twitter deal on hold....

Apparently some of the journalists that had been banned bans have had their bans lifted, hopefully they will have learnt their lesson.

Early this morning Musk tweeted: “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci”

To which Marjorie Taylor Greene replied “I affirm your pronouns Elon.”

This saddens me. What the hell happens to people?

I own a Telsa and applaud what he’s managed in the EV sphere, but Lord I hope Tesla can disassociate itself from him post haste.

What a childish thing to say.

Fauci responds to Musk’s Twitter attack and rates world’s COVID response (Nature)

On Sunday, entrepreneur Elon Musk called for your prosecution, claiming that you lied to Congress and funded research that killed millions of people. How do you respond to the tweets?
I don’t pay attention to that, Max, and I don’t feel I need to respond. I don’t tweet. I don’t have a Twitter account. A lot of that stuff is just a cesspool of misinformation, and I don’t waste a minute worrying about it.

Do you feel that your safety is at risk, given Musk’s enormous reach on Twitter?
Of course it’s at risk. That’s why I have armed federal agents with me all the time. That stirs up a lot of hate in people who have no idea why they’re hating — they’re hating because somebody like that is tweeting about it.

Musk is upset that someone is tracking the movements of his private jet, saying it puts his family at risk. But he doesn't seem to care about putting others at risk by spreading lies about them.
Elon Musk taking legal action over Twitter account that tracks his private jet
Elon Musk says he is taking legal action against the holder of a Twitter account that tracks his private jet, arguing it put his son at risk.

The @ElonJet account, which has more than half a million followers, was suspended on Wednesday.

Its owner Jack Sweeney, 20, used publicly available flight-tracking information to tweet every time Mr Musk's jet took off and landed.

Mr Musk says legal action is now being taken against Mr Sweeney and others.

"Last night, car carrying [his son] lil X in LA was followed by crazy stalker (thinking it was me), who later blocked car from moving and climbed onto hood," he tweeted.

He added that any account revealing people's real-time locations will be suspended "as it is a physical safety violation".

He can ban it from Twitter, but there is now a similar thing on Reddit:
Reddit now has a subreddit entirely dedicated to tracking Elon Musk’s jet

To me Musk is more like a Tump - it isn't anything to do with politics or any underlying ideology - it's all personal.

ah, but just as with Trump, everything that's good for them, personally, must be good for every right-thinking person.

We have reached the peak of Mt. Stupid.

Twitter Support said:
We recognize that many of our users are active on other social media platforms. However, we will no longer allow free promotion of certain social media platforms on Twitter.

Specifically, we will remove accounts created solely for the purpose of promoting other social platforms and content that contains links or usernames for the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr and Post.

We still allow cross-posting content from any social media platform. Posting links or usernames to social media platforms not listed above are also not in violation of this policy.

You can now get banned for mentioning your instagram handle. Not even the link. Just mentioning it.

In one sense I am not surprised. Why would you allow people to post links to your competitors?

On the other hand, I think it means a lot of people will now leave Twitter because they can no longer promote their other social media sites on it. These people are probably the ones with the most followers. On balance, I think this is another footman moment.

It would be like if a new coffee shop opened nearby and the only thing you knew about it was that they charged 10 cents for each sugar packet you wanted. You wouldn't need to know anything else. Even if you don't like sugar in your coffee, it's a deal breaking vibe.

I doubt this policy will still be up by Christmas. Mercy to the Twitter support staff if they add Twitch to the list.

Absolute free speech!!!

I get a loading error when trying to look at the specific webpage but some people have taken screenshots. Looks like even at the tweet level you cannot post your username on other sites even if you don’t use your URL.

Apparently “cloaking” by using words like “dot” in plain text also violates the rule.

Musk is going to make his remaining staff work pretty hard on the mass purge that will now take place.
