Russian lawmakers also passed bills imposing up to three years in prison for acts like calling for anti-war protests and anti-Russian sanctions and spreading information that “discredits the use of the Russian Armed Forces,” according to news agencies.

From Moscow times livefeed.

More from Putin of 'freedom of the press':

"With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!"

Oh, dear...my mistake.

Another way to look at it is that the commies called themselves socialists, but always looked like fascists and tsarists, and that this leopard has in fact always had these spots.

General Secretary Brezhnev shows his mother his palatial apartment in Moscow, his fancy dacha in the countryside, his chauffer-driven limousine, his personal helicopter, etc. and says “See mom, I’ve really made it. Aren’t you proud?”

“Very much so,” she says. “But I’m worried, too.”

“What are you worried about?” asks Brezhnev.

“Well, Leonid — what if the communists come back?”

The BBC News, as well as its Swedish equivalent, has ceased news reporting from within Russia. The Swedish journalists are being sent back into Sweden due to the risk that they or local employees and contractors risk being prosecuted for spreading "fake news" about Russias war.

The only significant critical (but still owned by Gazprom) newspaper in Russia will cease all reporting on the war, although it will not shut down.

Russia trying real hard to project a "I never wanted any of your stupid Western products/services anyway!" vibe.

Give it a few weeks and it will be "We always wanted to live in mud huts using our currency for toiletpaper. Your sanctions have nothing to do with it!"

What has the West got that they can't get somewhere else?

I guess we can safely say the Soviet Union is back. The iron curtain is down again.

Putin must be soooo embarrassed by the "performance" of his army.
