Hey.

There's currently an idea for a Chicago skeptic's meeting on the SC boards.

Anyone interested? Maybe this spring, when driving is easier in the Midwest?

If we have a lot of St Louis types interested, I was thinking Peoria ...but that's because I live close..;)

So...anyone?

I would be up for that. I was planning on making a trip to Chicago sometime in 2006 to see Millenium Park and re-visit other attractions.

I'd be down with that. What could I do to help?

to see Millenium Park and re-visit other attractions.
Go to Millenium Park at night...it's better then. Also, not-to-be-missed: the virgin mary pareidolia stain (Santa Maria de la Underpass) is still under Interstate 94 in all of her salty glory. Excellent photo op.

Hmmmmmm.

The thought for this came from here:

I was thinking Easter, so trvel would be easier. It snows some in this part of the country at times.

Or around Easter...whatever.

Any objections?

I read the link, and I would say no way to the Olive Garden they are referring to. I would say no way to any Olive Garden anywhere. Personally, if we are going to have a meeting in Chicago, it should be in Chicago, not some faceless, cookie cutter, chain store suburb. Because the suburbs of Chicago look just like the suburbs of St. Louis which look just like the suburbs of Denver which look just like the suburbs of Louisville which look just like.....Well, you get the idea.

I say we pick a non-chain retaurant/bar in downtown Chicago, within walking distance of the Art Institute, Grant Park, the Field Museum, etc.

I am in Kansas City, but I might be willing to go to Chicago. I am with "Central Scrutinizer" though...if I am going to schlep to Chicago, let's do Chicago...maybe downtown? I can go to Olive Garden any old time here. I would love to hang in the city, though.

You get what you pay for.

:D Absolutely--Fazolis is walking distance from my house and I only go there a few times a year, if that. Yuck.

Many years ago, I lived in Indianapolis and there was this place called "Bucket O' Spaghetti"--It isn't there anymore, but the concept was that people would just buy a gallon bucket of spaghetti to take home. Actually, it tasted pretty good. I guess it was like a class-less Fazolis, if you can imagine that.

I will point out my "official" wedding is May 20th.
You guys are welcome to crash, if you agree to pay for the cash bar :)
Skeptic meeting with live band! Whoo hoo!

I'm in! The closer, the better. Downtown Chicago is better - more museums and sightseeing. Just a thought.

I'll be in Chicago Thursday Jan 19th, just that day. By all means too early for a get-together :(. A city tour and a walk by Sears Tower will be it for me, weather permitting, I mean snow permitting!.

The more I think about it, the more I like the downtown Chicago idea.

Arlington Heights was just off the top of my head before I'd had any real response.

I have not been to Chicago in some time.

And I am looking for an excuse to take the train to Chicago from Detroit.

Ooh, count me in for Chicago, now that I live there and all. Being new to town, I'm not the best source for recommendations for places. But wherever y'all decide on, I'm there (as long as it's post-TAM).

ETA: I posted the above with no regard for the fact that my work schedule is different than Normal People's. So if it's, say, during the day on a weekend, I can make it, but many evenings are taken for me.

Perhaps in the evening, we can come and watch you play!

Weekend, afternoon or early evening, will probably be easiest for most.

Rather than "fashionably late".
