I just now tried "tank man" ln DDG and got full stories, images, and articles on him.

Eta: the article you cite was bylined about 12 hours ago, so they were either wrong or it was in fact a glitch fixed quickly

I dunno. A glitch, fixed right prlnto, is not credible to you? Tell me: you think Bing execs thought no one would have noticed that Tank Man disappeared from search results? Bing really thought no one would notice? It makes no sense, unless you assume they are bumbling idiots, in which case I'd assume reams of other evidence regarding said idiocy.

Oh, I get you. With as complex as Google is, I'd honestly expect massive daily errors and dismiss them to outliers.

Like, if you googled "American Girl Dolls" and it showed results for human trafficking on the Dark Web, I'd figure "yeah, that's gonna happen sometimes"

No, it isn't going to happen, ever. Neither Google, nor any other "clear web" browsers show results from the Dark Web, ever, not even by mistake.

Websites on the Deep Web and the Dark Web are not indexed, and webcrawlers are blocked so they will never show up on any kind of search engine. Accessing the Dark Web requires the use of "Tor", an anonymizing browser.

You can't just rock up to the Dark Web with Tor and expect to be able to do a Google-like search for stolen credit card numbers, or login credentials for someone's million dollar bank account, or somewhere where you can buy some "American Girl Dolls" on the white slavery black market - things just don't work like that. If it did, authorities would be able to shut these people down easily and quickly.

When using the Dark Web, you are routed through a long chain of web proxies that make it nigh on impossible to backtrack and find your IP address, but that anonymising security come at a cost... speed. "surfing" the Dark Web is an extremely slow process.

More precious than usual, thanks for the laugh.

I ran Tor like 10 years ago, for the Lulz :) Do the kids still use it? I assumed it was outdated/superseded by now.
