The behaviour of US police officers

Seems to be an odd coincidence, the more cameras that are out there, the more times people are catching these "bad apples".

Ironically, I have heard that body cameras are more likely to confirm the police report in disputed cases than not. But the LEOs still oppose them.

Of course, that is because without body cameras, the police basically always win out in a disputed case because they get the benefit of the doubt.

If they were "bad apples" they would be fired, but merely getting caught framing someone is not enough to get a cop fired after all. This is just normal police behavior.

Even in a situation where a cop is caught red handed committing an assault and trying to frame a citizen with a false statement, the best we see is murmurs of firing and maybe instituting body cams. The notion that a cop might be criminally prosecuted for using his police authority to blatantly break the law and victimize a member of the community is simply beyond imagination.

Truly we are a nation of bootlickers.

Yeah, lying on a police report should be a prosecuted crime just as false reporting is for civilians. But cops know this so they already have canned responses, like fog of the moment and other convenient phrases that don't work for civilians.

LAPD is rioting in response to peaceful protests in opposition to clearing a homeless encampment in echo park.

The LAPD has broken a man's arm with a baton strike and is arresting journalists. Reports are they targeted legal observers for arrest. Video shows LAPD firing bean bags from shotguns at close range, which can be lethal. Misusing "less lethal" weapons in order to wound is a fine tradition for American police.

Picture of a LAPD cop brandishing a shotgun at a journalist covering the protests. At this range, a bean bag round would almost certainly either be lethal or cause serious maiming.

Los Angeles: LAPD Captain Richard Paul Stabile is running the police response tonight at Echo Park Lake.

Stabile is a known supporter of the January 6th Capitol insurrection, he joked about setting up a gang hit on DA
@GeorgeGascon
, and he is sympathetic to the Proud Boys.

Local cops holding a raffle with a local militia group. Totally normal and good.

The Appomattox County Militia held a raffle to raise money for the militia and equipment for the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Department.

On Friday, members Gary Barton, fundraising chairman, Marty White, an officer of the militia, and John Hinkle, a member of the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors, met at the Appomattox Train Station/Visitor’s Center in downtown Appomattox to hold a drawing to determine the raffle winners.

A couple of brave cops deciding that harassing adults just isn't enough for them:

US police bodycam video shows officers berating child aged five

The outcome for the two cops was all but inevitable:

The Montgomery County Police Department said in a statement that the two officers had been the subject of a "thorough" internal investigation, the findings of which had not been released. They remain employed as sworn officers, the department said.

The statement said such investigations were considered confidential under Maryland law and it would not comment on the findings.

Guessing publishing something to effect of 'little SOB is lucky they didn't shoot him' wouldn't be good PR.

No video in your link but this shows want went down (heavily edited). I can see exactly what the intention was here but the execution (not a word used lightly when talking about US - LEO's) was just awful.

"I hope she does beat you when you get home because you deserve it so much for your actions today"

Why would a person of authority ever speak to a five year old like that? They're essentially saying "If you get beat you deserve it and we're not going to help you". That's the only message that will really sink in to this child.

The US really is a sad, sad place.

And again. How is the school not able to handle a five year old (FIVE!!) and calls the ******* police? Unless some really serious **** has gone down police should NEVER be involved in school business.

The child had wandered away from the school. The news reports are inconclusive about if the police were called about this—it's a missing child after all—or if the officers were on patrol and encountered the child a short distance from the school.

So next time it happens the kid will run away when the police appear.

then they can go for a back shot.

These cops are forward thinking!

Here is some quality work from the police and the DA.

"A six-year-old boy who picked a flower from a lawn at a public bus stop is now facing a criminal charge.

The little boy was forced to go to juvenile court in the US state of North Carolina to face charges of injury to real property after picking the tulip from the area.

The boy’s attorney said his attention span was so short that during court proceedings she had to give him a picture to colour in."

As much as I'm totally onboard with castigating poorly performing LEO's I smell ***** here.
