I don't choose lab produced vaccines for my immune system...food based supplements are what I believe keep our immune systems in good stead...no lab chemicals... And this is not the MOST and especially in America's thinking...pharma controls the U.S.

Vitamin D supplements are made using a laboratory process. (I'm not going to bother with trying to explain the difference between an actual laboratory and a manufacturing facility of the types that make everything from insulin to your vitamin D.)

Did you think vitamin D was grown on organic farms?

In vitamin fields as far as the eye can see; harvested baskets full of clear sunshine, hand picked by hippies in braids and birkies.

Likely thought it was "natural" vit D, harvested directly from sunlight.

I don't care where it's from it's out there.

This is one of the most bind-boggling stupid things I've heard you say. Just because something is "out there" doesn't mean it's true! Ever since people began thinking and talking there have been examples of people believing patent nonsense, often backed up with nothing more than "someone said it." Here's a short list:
  • Flat earth
  • Santa Claus delivering presents on Christmas Eve
  • Fan death [Wikipedia]
  • Geocentric universe
  • Homeopathy
  • Queen Elizabeth is a shape-shifting reptilian alien
  • HAARP was a weather or mind control device
  • The Moon landing was faked
  • Freeman on the Land
  • Niburu
  • Mayan Calendar predicting the end of the world in 2012

All of these are patently, provably false. Yet people insist in believing in them because they lack the critical thinking skills to analyze them and see the inconsistencies and problems.

Yes. All of the USA-related Covid-19 conspiracy theories require ignoring the rest of the world. Most of them seem to go back to the notion that the whole thing was a conspiracy to defeat Donald Trump in the 2020 election. I've run across a fair number of people who simultaneously believe that Covid-19 is harmless and that it is a bio-weapon developed by China. Of course, that sort of belief in mutually exclusive conspiracy theories is totally normal for conspiracy theorists.

I wonder what happened to all those people who insisted that COVID-19 would magically disappear after the U.S. election?

I use some supplements too, but I sure as hell hope that when I get a sodium ascorbate tablet or the like it was mixed in a lab, and not by some hippie squashing lemons in the bathtub.

You know, Caroline, it's never too late to educate yourself. Admittedly 82 is rather late to start, but you still have time to acquire some basic critical thinking skills - learn how to evaluate sources of information and claims, recognise logical fallacies, even grasp a little maths and lose your fear of numbers. There are plenty of free online courses which could help you, just ask if you need help to find them.

I've recommended Trisha Greenhalgh's classic How To Read A Paper several times now in response to that particular poster, but I suspect it is dismissed as it's by a doctor and has things about numbers and statistics in it...

Include me in. Your "guilt by association" trick is baseless, MarkCorrigan. David Icke is a reliable source of information. When he comes up with very weird stuff like the Reptilians and the hollow moon, he does say so. "It's very weird, I've heard it from this or that chap." But the core of his message, MarkCorrigan, you might want to consider. It is still very weird, but it might be the truth.

No, Icke is someone who hides his antisemitism behind utter crackpottery

Childlike Empress - as has been said before here, "credibility isn't a boomerang". Claiming that Icke is reliable on anything beyond the comfort of purple tracksuits, is throwing away whatever credibility you have in this thread.

Saying that it's a fake pandemic, and also that Mr Lizard man is credible doesn't help you.

If the rules about attacking the argument and not the arguer were a little more flexible, it would also undermine any claims you had to analytical credibility in other threads too.

That's one view. Others think he is simply a crackpot who honestly believes in shapeshifting reptiles (though he is used as a front by others who are anti-semites).

Reiterating the claims of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion suggests to me that that's a generous interpretation.

The Truth, you believe 2 old cogers in govt -- Biden and Fauci are truth tellers?????

I'm much more likely to believe someone who spent his life working for the NIH studying infectious disease using actual science than someone who can't even understand the very basic concept that anecdotes aren't evidence.

Food based supplements are chemicals too.

What you 'believe' doesn't change reality.

Since hospitals in the US get a big bonus for handling suspected Covid-related deaths, Covid-19 may never disappear.

Nope.
Q: Are hospitals inflating the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths so they can be paid more?

A: Recent legislation pays hospitals higher Medicare rates for COVID-19 patients and treatment, but there is no evidence of fraudulent reporting . . .
Robert Berenson, an institute fellow at the Urban Institute, said the notion that hospitals are profiting off the pandemic — as some of the social media posts may imply — isn’t borne out by facts, either.

Berenson said revenues appear to be down for hospitals this quarter because many have suspended elective procedures, which are key to their revenue, forcing some hospitals to cut staff. He surmised that potential instances of patients being wrongly “upcoded” — or classified as COVID-19 when they’re not — are “trivial compared to these other forces that are affecting hospital finances.”
COVID might never go away due to deniers, anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers.

This is so screwed up it's not even wrong. You've done to logic what Dali did for pocket watches. Hospitals are losing money over COVID and at an alarming rate. Hospitals in areas with a lot of COVID 19 admissions either can't do elective procedures or people elect to postpone on their own. Those procedures are where hospitals make their money.

It's amazing and morbidly amusing how wrong the wrong-headed can be.

So the whole world's medical community is faking COVID-19 just so U.S. hospitals can make money (that they aren't even making)?

Who was the source of that incredibly stupid argument, if I might ask?
