Cont: Qanon Conspiracy Theories Part Two

There's an old movie about a gang of bank robbers who take over a luggage store because its basement adjoins a bank vault just a short distance away, but for secrecy they have to sell a few suitcases...and they mark them up to keep customers to a minimum. But the public assumes these are luxury items, and the crooks turn such a profit that they wind up in leather goods..

In the original "Nick Fury, Agent Of SHIELD" stories from the 1960's, SHIELD used a Barber Shop as their New York Front.
Yes, the original SHIELD stories were a pretty blatent attempt by Marvel to cash in on the Spy craze of the 1960's.
And , of course, there is the grandaddy of all fronts for spy organizations; "Universal Exports" in the James Bond Novels.

Kinda related to the Hidalgo Trading Company that was used as a warehouse front hiding all of Doc Savage's airships, subs and other adventure cars autogyro, etc that he used.

That was created in 1933. When those pulp books started to publish.

Well also, as we all know, Harlington-Straker Film Studios, was the front for SHADO, where highly trained scientists and soldiers would fight UFOs invading Earth, and wear their favourite purple wigs and silver uniforms.

....and finally. I'm not saying this restaurant chain is a front for a secret Qanon organisation, but the name did seem somewhat familiar. :)

The great thing about the comics (especially when Steranko was doing the art) was they could have gadgets that were well ahead of anything possible in films - Fury had an invisible car well before Bond did.

(Great username)
AutoSergei.... :)

And why don't they believe anything on face value such as The Great Reset?
I'm not entirely sure what you mean; most CTs aren't about the actual ideological aims, whatever they are, to the believers. They're about ego assurance, believing they're special and have knowledge not available to the "sheeple" and being part of the in-group.

Off Topic : As people have to come and go, packages have to be delivered and so on, I always think the best secret organisations run from behind a front cash business. You can also move money through the front business. The Mafia used flower shops, and bars. The (Man from) UNCLE operated from a laundry.
[NITPICK]
Actually the usual front was Del Floria's Tailor Shop, which had a sideline in cleaning. It wasn't a laundry as such. Though there were other entrances into the headquarters, such as the tunnels, the Masque Club and the unnamed IIRR charity organisation used as a front.
The Italian HQ also had a Del Floria's Tailor Shop front...

SPECTRE used charities as fronts; 'Fraternité Internationale de la Résistance Contre l’Oppression' in the books or the 'International Brotherhood for the Assistance of Stateless Persons' in the films.
[/NITPICK]

The Australian Tax Office uses established financial ratios to point them towards suspicious businesses. If a flower shop's tax return indicates it turns over $10 million with only one employee and small flower stock turn over....well the ATO will look at that business.
My brother, who worked for Revenue as a field investigator, knew certain businesses inside-out and could find suspicious cash flows very rapidly. Then specialised software was developed with business model analysis.

Everyone knows the International Special Forces mercenaries for hire (ISF) operates from behind a skeptic forum front:)
Oh dear, someone's in for a visit to the basement. And we're short of catheter lurricant.....

Larceny, Inc., aka A Night Before Christmas.

Invisible cars are easy, just pan the camera and dub in an engine sound.

Really good series, balancing confrontations with mind-eating horrors from other universes against the really scary dealings with the HR department.

And Doc Savage also had a "Fortress of Solitude " at the North Pole.
Just a coincidence that the DC writer who introduced the Fortress into Superman in the late 1950's was an junior editor at the publishers of DOc Savage in the early 30;s....
