BLM Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

How does anybody outside of Nobel committee know nominations? They are sealed for 50 years and nobody including nominees is told who was nominated.

As Tim said, the person doing the nominating can announce it. And while the list of people who can do the nominating is finite, it is definitely skewed towards those who would be likely to nominate BLM. Among others qualified are:

University rectors; professors of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology; directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes;

Given that, I'd be shocked if there weren't dozens of nominations for BLM.

Both reasonable, but my working hypothesis is that BLM's nomination is probably fake news.

In the sense that there's not actually any credible report of their nomination, nor any particular reason to act as if it's true. Most likely, Rep. Boebert heard something, or made something up, or was attempting comedy.

That said, I take issue with Vixen's characterization of the tweet as "racist". It manifestly is not racist.

My take on it is that any attempt to discuss or even mention the violence that attended some BLM protests is an attempt say they are pro-violence, and therefore racist, and therefore should be silenced immediately without acknowledgement or debate.

The implication is that it's impossible for black people to protest nonviolently, so when police start blasting tear gas and rubber bullets wildly, it's justified.

The giveaway in this case is Boebert's support for Toupee FIasco, her goofball need for guns for "protection" in DC (in the safest possible part of DC, of course), and her links to groups like the 3 Percenters. You may feel the need to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she'll end up disappointing you if you do.
