BLM Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

This news has caused a bit of an outcry.

Lauren Boebert - notorious for her alleged encouragement of the recent Capitol Hill riots - had this to say on Twitter (hastily deleted):

Black Lives Matter was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, so Rep. Lauren Boebert tweeted this racist statement for exactly 7 seconds before deleting it. #copolitics

It's been a long-standing tradition in the US for the most violent bigots to imagine that the people they hate have the same murderous fantasies that they openly revel in - which is exactly the ugly projection that groups like BLM are forced to waste time responding to. From fears of "negro domination" during reconstruction and slavery, to lynchings by those that gang-raped black women, to charges MLK Jr started riots, to racist murderers like George Zimmermen (who set off the BLM movement), to Toupee Fiasco's deluded followers like the jackass you quoted, its always the same.

University professors of history, social sciences, philosophy, law, and theology, university presidents, and directors of peace research and international affairs institutes are all able to make nominations. I'm not at all surprised that at least one person in that group has done so. Not sure why it's any more newsworthy or controversial than any of the other nominations.

BLM has, apparently, succeeded in promoting peace talks and disarmament, so it's actually pretty close to what the NPP is about.

I was surprised to discover in my twitter timeline three people who are usually one-topic ponies - apart from the odd cute pet or cute kid post - all expressing their disgust at this news. I knew they were right wing ***** as they now and again point out that Joe Biden is a pedophile because he once kissed the head of one of his younger relatives but the level of intolerance shown made me promptly unfollow the three of them.

Someone brought up Kissinger before, but then when they posted the criteria for the prize, it made a lot of sense.

The Paris Accord (I think that was the agreement) was an achievement that was Nobel Peace Prize worthy.

Kissinger didn't get it by himself. He shared it with the guy from North Vietnam, right?

Which is why Arafat gets credit - for the Camp David accords. True he reneged later, but in terms of what the NPP is about, he's a legit candidate.

Same with BLM, even including the occasional riot.

I don't think there's anything to stop the nominator from publishing it.
