Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 26

That's interesting now that many people have lost a week's unemployment payment and supposedly it is not recoverable.

But if you live in WA State, Inslee announces state action following Trump’s refusal to sign Pandemic Unemployment Assistance extension.

Yay Inslee, yay Democratic governors! Yay me!.
However, for some people in our state who have been receiving PUA benefits, this will prevent an immediate loss of assistance at a time when they are most in need.

“Families and businesses will face devastating consequences if the president continues to block the bipartisan package. Hopefully he does the right thing and ultimately signs the bill. But, even if the legislation is signed in the days ahead, thousands of Washingtonians will lose at least a week of pandemic unemployment assistance — and that is unacceptable to me.”

This emergency payment will be issued by the Washington State Employment Security Department (ESD) to all PUA claimants who were in active status the week ending November 21st, and will total $550 per claimant, which equates to roughly two weeks of benefits for most PUA recipients. ...
As a self-employed person whose work has diminished, I will get that payment. And I have paid state taxes in for decades so I'm not ripping anyone off to say that.

WaPo is reporting that Trump has signed the stimulus bill (link is to a WaPo article via MSN, so there shouldn't be any paywall issues):
President Trump late Sunday signed the stimulus bill into law, three people briefed on his decision said, averting a Tuesday government shutdown. His decision to back down and sign the measure will release $900 billion in stimulus funds into the economy that had been held up for nearly a week.

Who knew?

Now all he has to do is overturn the electoral vote to be the best loved president since Reagan.

Then he can grow his real hair back and drop 100 pounds. Nothing is impossible for an American president superstar like Trump.

Authorities in California say a man shot his estranged brother-in-law. The victim survived. What’s really striking about this story is the alleged attire of defendant Gerald Jacinth, 75. Investigators claim he was wearing a “rubberized over the head mask resembling Donald Trump,” a white beard, and a Santa hat.

The photo from Palm Beach Wednesday night is the first one I have seen of trump where he looked noticeably older, where his appearance seemed changed. Maybe a little bit previously, but of course, he is four years older than when he ran in 2016. Anyway, why would the 'job' age him? What job? Let's face it, no president in living memory has ever spent less time actually working than donald j trump. No, I think what may be getting trump down -- w-a-y down in a way his physical appearance reflects -- is the realization his presidency is ending. And there is absolutely nothing he can do about it.

Not only does he face the humiliation of being a sitting president rejected by American voters, once out of office he faces severe financial problems, he faces criminal prosecutions. He knows he's made many enemies, he knows a huge swath of the American public despise him. Trouble ahead and few allies, other than the ones he can pay to be allies.

All the business failures he's suffered, the way he always seems to convince himself, "This time it will be different." But it never really is. I think what has aged him is knowing, this time he screwed up on a world stage. This time it might really be over.

I hope so anyway! ;)

Does he?

Isn’t it possible his mental disorder prevents him from understanding that?

Did this happen on 5th Avenue?

That might cover the debt that comes due for him soon. I've heard varying amounts.

Well, the loan amounts are

$285m (against 1290 Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan)
$165m (against 555 California Street in San Francisco)
$100m (against Trump Tower)
$131m (against Doral)
$170m (against Trump International Hotel in Washington DC)
$47m (against Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago)
$13m (against Trump Plaza)

TOTAL $911m

There is also speculation that he owes a further $400m to Russian Oligarchs connected with Putin (which would explain why he is so deferential to Russia)

If these figures are correct, then $500m won't even go close to covering it. He will have to grift his dumb-as-**** followers out of a lot more of their unemployment benefit money.

Plenty enough to pay the revolving costs until he croaks.

Does he seem the type to be concerned with institutional legacy?

It surprises me that the 400m represents additional outstanding loans. Given his considerable assets, I don't think he's in dire straits. Also, Trump made almost a half-billion dollars from The Apprentice (what the ****?!). I imagine just four seasons of The Orange Menace will prove even more lucrative.

given that Trump owns hardly anything of Trump Tower anymore, $100 million seems like a lot.
And, of course, the Trump DC Hotel has no hope of every seeing a profit without Trump being President.

With President @realDonaldTrump signing the COVID relief and government funding bill, suffering Americans will get help, the vaccine will be distributed faster, and the government will stay open.
