2020 United States presidential election - Conspiracy theories, alleged fraud, etc

On a related note, has the State of Texas released the calculations by which the odds of a Biden victory were determined to be 1,000,000,000,000 to one, or whatever even more ridiculous number they're claiming? Dissecting the fallacies involved in it could be entertaining.

Were the light poles metal? In Hungary, we were on a train that had stopped and a rail worker systematically hit the metal wheels with a hammer. I guess small fractures make the wheel ring in a different way, but I never asked as I can't speak Hungarian. :)

Wheel Tappers.
I knew a bloke that did that for a living.

That's it. Keep on believing. Don't let any doubt into your mind that Trump will win a second term.

We already established that Trump supporters can't count to 306, now it appears they can't count to 20 either. Wouldn't it be simpler just to tell them he's already had two terms and bank on them not even being able to count that high?

I think, as someone else mentioned, the courts will just sit on it until all the elections are certified. After which, the Trumpets will file more "whatever they are" claiming that the certification itself was illegal because....reasons.

Here you go (Starting on page 20 of the PDF): https://www.supremecourt.gov/Docket...7887_TX-v-State-ExpedMot 2020-12-07 FINAL.pdf

But don't expect to be entertained, it's plain and simple Truther math.

Couldn't resist popping back for this historic day when the Supreme Court decides whether or not to grant the request by the President and 18 states to dissolve the United States of America and proclaim the new republic of Trumpistan.

On the edge of my seat. A truly tragicomic day in the history of the USA.

That's bizarre. He's straight out claiming in 11 and 12 that a 5% voting swing between two difference candidates over four years is statistically impossible. This is based on a statistical variance calculated from a single value. I'm not even sure what "I estimate the variance by multiplying the mean times the probability of the candidate not getting a vote" is supposed to mean, though I suspect the probability referred to is of rectal origin.

And he's saying in 15, "The Georgia reversal in the outcome raises questions because the votes tabulated in the two time periods could not be random samples from the same population of all votes cast." Well, duh. We know they weren't samples from the same population; the entire strategy of the Republican party leading up to the election was to divide the electorate into two distinct populations and to sample the one known to have a massive pro-Republican bias first. He's then admitting that the two populations could be different but saying there's no evidence that they were, thus neatly reversing the burden of proof.

He is basically starting from the assumption that the casting of votes in an election is a totally random process, then analysing the results with a completely invalid approach, and concluding that the difference between the two elections cannot be caused by completely random processes. Again, well, duh.

I find it hard to believe that anyone with a working understanding of statistics could make these pronouncements as honest mistakes. As you say, it's Truther math; start out with a conclusion you want to prove, work back through an incompetent method to come up with a nonsensical set of premises, then present the whole lot in reverse order.

Ultimately, all that Charles J. Chichetti has demonstrated is that voters don't choose their preferred candidate using a blindfold and a dart board.

Who cares? It's just a stupid stunt.

It’s even stupider than the “Kraken” suits, the last of which was flicked away yesterday by a Wisconsin judge like the legal booger it was. Remember when the Trump cultists were all excited about that and yammering about how this was The Big One? Don’t hear much about it now. The same will go for this moronic and anti-American pseudolegal excrescence from the deeply corrupt Ken Paxton, a disgrace to the great state of Texas in particular and America in general.

By the way, where are all the conspiracy theories about the assistant to Ken Paxton who was murdered after whistle-blowing on Paxton’s corruption?

Does the Texas suit even have merit in terms of laches? They waited till the last minute to file the suit, when these election laws were settled like a month before the election, and now it's too late to truly fix anything (that is, if there was anything to fix).

Yep, among other problems...

And technically, they didn't wait "until the last minute." They waited until after the election, which is after the event.

In the suit, they have set themselves up for a laches dismissal. They explicitly say it's not about election fraud, and only about the states approved policies.

Election fraud would be something that would have to be addressed after the election. But if the concern is only about the election rules, that is something that should have been addressed earlier, when they happened.

If they had a problem with other states having non-legislative actors making voting rules, aside from the fact that it happened in Texas itself, they should have said something when it happened.

The kraken, she dead.

Last ‘Kraken’ Slain: Court Notes ‘Federal Judges Do Not Appoint the President,’ Wonders Why Sidney Powell Asked [lawandcrime.com]
The last of the four lawsuits filed by President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Sidney Powell bit the dust late Wednesday in Wisconsin, where a federal judge noted that voters choose who goes to the White House in the United States.

“Federal judges do not appoint the president in this country,” U.S. District Judge Pamela Pepper wrote in a 45-page ruling. “One wonders why the plaintiffs came to federal court and asked a federal judge to do so. After a week of sometimes odd and often harried litigation, the court is no closer to answering the ‘why.’ But this federal court has no authority or jurisdiction to grant the relief the remaining plaintiff seeks.”

Ninja'd of course, but still a good article.

The Texas suit has exactly the same merit as all the suits brought by Guiliani, Powell &co., because it contains the same claims and 'evidence'.
And Courts have ruled that they have no merit.

And yes, even if the SC would get involved and if it decided that PA an the others did something wrong, that would have to get fixed in time for the next election: you can't change the rules after everyone played the game in supposedly good faith.

This is pure theater, and it is a shame that millions of Americans don't use good sources of information to relaize that they are being lied to.
