2020 Presidential Election part 2

Pffft. Just do what Trump did, if a cabinet member wasn't confirmed, use them anyway, call them and interim [x].

That's what Trump did. It has its limits, as there are limits on how long one can serve in a temporary appointment. The BLM is dealing with this issue now, a whole bunch of administrative decisions may be overturned due to being approved by an unapproved/temporary appointee who had stayed on too long.

I want to see Biden put his foot down with McConnell: Negotiate or Biden will pass whatever thing is wanted by an EO without GOP input. He can be pleasant about it, but if he lets McConnell walk all over him like Obama let McConnell, trying to be nice, it's going to look real bad for Biden.

EO's don't work that way. They're just a higher level administrative interpretation of existing law. You can't overrule existing law with an EO.

Is that actually what happened? That would make a whole lot of sense, in a bizarre way. I wondered what the heck they were doing holding a press conference at a landscaping store. That's.....weird. I thought perhaps they had a large outdoor area where they could set up mics outside.

Or was it actually, "Pam, Call the Four Seasons and see if we can set up a press conference for 11."

"Ok, Rudy." (Pause, googles, gets number) "Hi, this is Pam Bondi with the Trump campaign. We would like to hold a press conference. At 11:30. Will that be ok. "

"Uhhhh.....I'll have to ask my boss." (Pause) "Uhhh....Bob says it's ok."
We're going to find out this is actually what happened when Trump's minions go their separate ways.

"We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”

I've been thinking about this quote for a couple of years. It is the number one reason I have wanted to see Trump go. We all have differences, but leaders seek to unite the country and Trump only sought to divide us. Instead of appealing to our better angels he only called on our demons and insecurities.

Think I don't know all that? But hey, Trumpy set the precedent so too bad.

This really is only in case McConnell pulls his crap that he's going to make sure Biden is a one term POTUS.
If he does that then **** it. He was elected by Kentucky, not by the country. He's been ignoring precedent and screwing up the country. The Senate is divided, it's not majority GOP just because they have a couple seats over the line.

Biden speech @ 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT

President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will give his acceptance speech Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, capping a tumultuous election week that hit its apex Saturday. That’s when Pennsylvania was called for the Democratic challenger, pushing him past the 270 electoral vote threshold to overtake President Donald Trump.

As they have done all week, the broadcast networks will carve into primetime to cover Biden and Harris, who will speak tonight from Wilmington, DE, with Harris first up before introducing Biden, according to reports. You can watch the entire event on Deadline here via PBS NewsHour:

“Biden won” has the same level of credibility—and comes from the same sources—as “Trump is a white supremacist” and “Trump colluded with Russia.” These are bogus claims, not facts. The facts will be determined when the case is heard and the judges rule on it #Election2020results

We should take a page from the Democrats’ playbook. Did they accept Trump as their president over the past four years? No. It follows that we should not recognize the legitimacy of a Biden presidency either #NotOurPresident

Trump is playing golf. Yes, golf! This guy is amazing. The left wants him to hunker down and cry but he’s keeping his cool and getting his relaxation and still doggedly fighting for what is right. Let’s follow his example of the cool-headed warrior!

@GOPChairwoman
The media doesn’t decide who wins elections, voters do.
In multiple states the margins are razor thin with counting ongoing, several of which are headed for recounts.

Shut... the... ****... up.

1. The votes really aren't shaping up to be all that close.
2. The popular vote gap is absolutely massive. You're still losing via the stacked system that is the only thing keeping you in power.

Oops, he must have tweeted this before learning that Trump actually canceled his golf weekend and returned to the White House.

Another reason to be pissed at Trump: pardoning this asshat.

I actually don't think so. Despite the doom and gloom from some posters here, I think the USA will be fine. Countries have an ebb-and-flow of good and bad times, and the US is currently struggling with a good deal of issues, but nothing that can't be fixed over time. The police force can be reformed. The health system can be improved. Minimum wage can be increased. Social mobility can be improved. Infrastructure can be repaired. And so on. I'm not pretending it'll be easy, but I'm saying the ship can be turned around.

I think the polarization, obstructionism, and the way many live in a post-fact world is the biggest problem the USA has at the moment, since it's such a major obstacle to everything else. It's like they're trying to get a car on the right course, and someone has the foot firmly on the brake pedal.

As for how exactly to heal the divide and move on, and re-establish a healthy social discourse, I have no idea on how specifically to do so. Except finally addressing the plight of the low-income population will probably go a long way.

The problem with that is that most incentives to that end still tend to be shut down as "socialism".
Alas, we're stuck with a SCOTUS packed with young nutjobs.

Time machine, dial up 2015. We're going back to 2015 for a nostalgic return to polarization, obstructionism, voter suppression, CT nutbaggery, the fact free bubble, school shootings, and far right acts of deadly violence.

No senate, no progress on many important things.

At the drive-in rally where P-E Biden is scheduled to speak, I see a lot of pickup trucks, but I don't see any "Biden" flags. Only American ones.
