2020 Presidential Election

I keep reading Fake News stories that my campaign is running low on money. Not true, & if it were so, I would put up money myself. The fact is that we have much more money than we had 4 years ago, where we spent much less money than Crooked Hillary, and still easily won, 306-223!

....Much of the money we have spent is on our ground game, said to be the best ever put together. I’ll let you know how good it is on November 3rd. Very expensive to do, but opportunity could be BIG! I will spend additional money if we are not spending enough!

They know it is over for them. Law & Order will prevail, strong version!

Radical left-wing activists have posted a plan to shut down the country and force Trump from power if the 2020 election is too close to call.

I did more in 47 months than Biden did in 47 years. Now, he is pushing the most far-left agenda ever put forward by a presidential nominee...

Biden refuses to answer questions on packing the Supreme Court. He says voters “don’t deserve” to know. If they win, Dems will pack the #SCOTUS w/ radical left justices who will shred the #2A, empower violent mobs, and shield deadly criminals & terrorists.

Joe Biden’s agenda would be a catastrophe for Florida Seniors. For years, Biden tried to cut Social Security and Medicare. Now Biden is pledging mass amnesty and federal healthcare for illegal aliens—decimating Medicare and destroying Social Security...

It was great to be back in my home state of FLORIDA to make my official return to the campaign trail. I am energized by your prayers, humbled by your support, and absolutely determined to finish what we started and Make America Greater than Ever Before!

This is actually more or less true.

On Sept 30th, the Trump campaign had over 300 field offices, the Biden campaign ... none.

Whether it matters a lot is another question.
And whether "most of the money spent" goes to the ground game, or to legal expenses and (directly or indirectly) Trump's pocket is also not clear.

And obviously Trump can't deny that Biden has out raised him significantly in August, and most probably also in September (both campaign have yet to release their September figures).

Doesn't look like there will be a surprise vaccine to help Trump inthe next few weeks.

Johnson & Johnson has paused its Covid vaccine trial to investigate why one participant in the study fell ill.

The company said an independent review would check if the person's unexplained symptoms were related to the jab.

It has suspended recruitment to the phase three trial as a precaution.

I suppose we should expect a flurry of tweets from President Trump complaining about how "Big Pharma" are doing this deliberately to punish him for the incredible* work he has done in bringing down drug prices.

* - incredible in the most literal way - something that's impossible to believe ;)

Actually, nine million people have already voted. It's already started. I voted on Sunday by dropping off a ballot in a drop box. By the end of the week, I expect around 20 million votes will have already been cast. Some states are starting in person early voting this week.

I voted, in person, last Tuesday.

Nobody in 2016 expected Weiner's laptop to produce the eleventh hour October Surprise.

But that surprised was part of an issue that had been going on for a long time. The republicans had been beating that drum for over a year. So when it happened, it was effective at influencing people.

If something were to come up now in regards to Biden, absent it being a video of him murdering puppies or something, it won't have the same effect. It will be met largely with incredulity and suspicion of the people bringing out whatever surprise that happens to be (Trump supporters, of course, will gobble it up, but they're not the ones that need convincing).

Honestly I was expecting Deepfakes in this election. But Trump’s team doesn’t have the competence and his Russian buddies aren’t providing one.

Not even Putin wants to be associated with him. Putin is too smart for that.

Hans :p

Data point: 538 this morning gives Biden an 87% chance to win.

And remember 538 was the site people where screaming at for being "too bullish" on Trump back in 2016.

The only major polls that predicted a Trump win in 2016; Investor's Business Daily / TechnoMetrica poll (IBD/TIPP) and University of Southern California Dornslife / Los Angeles are both predicting a major Biden victory this time.

Again... yeah 2016 did happen and nothing can change that and we should learn from it and not get too cocky or complacent.... eggs before they hatch, additional truism, additional truism, additional truism.

But Biden's lead is stronger, and more importantly more outside the margin of error, than Hillary's was.

But again all this does is get us to a win that Trump has already declared he won't accept, so....

*Sighs* God nobody ever use the "May you live in interesting times" chestnut again. I so want to live in "precedented" times again.

I agree, and it is baffling that they have not been able to do something similar.

Maybe it is smart from the Dems to go with a boring elderly centrist politician, known for his mostly benign gaffes, but quite popular.
We'll know soon enough.

So what's the general political consensus on how late you can drop your "October / 11th Hour Surprise" especially with so many votes being counted early?

I mean yeah I know it's Trump so the best you can do is go "Well in a sane world the trend is..." but I'm just curious on very general opinions.

This is probably another reason why Trump was protesting mail-in ballots being submitted so early. Officially, it was "People shouldn't vote before they see the issues discussed during the debates", but it's likely also wanting as much time as possible to come up with something to manipulate the opinions of the voters.

I think this week is perfect for deliberate October surprises.

But then again, Trumpicans are as competent with their election efforts as with everything else.
