GOP Rep. Jason Smith (begs the British government to "put a stop" to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry urging Americans to vote.
Smith claimed their activities in encouraging voting amounted to foreign interference in an American election.

Meghan Markle is an American citizen.

Biden is against Oil, Guns and Religion, a very bad combination to be fighting in the Great State of Texas. We are Winning Big, in the Real Polls, all over the Country!!! NOVEMBER 3rd. VOTE!!!

The Gallup Poll has just come out with the incredible finding that 56% of you say that you are better off today, during a pandemic, than you were four years ago (OBiden). Highest number on record! Pretty amazing!
I will save your a Second Amendment, Virginia. He is going to take it away. Vote Trump!

Normally, that would be a pretty good thing for Trump. But he should be asking himself: then why am I having my ass kicked so badly in the polls by Biden?

You know, everyone keeps saying the GOP will do everything they can to sabotage the election results after the fact, but are we really sure of that? Isn't there a possibility the GOP might cut their losses and run if Trump loses, especially if he loses bigly enough, since the more interference they run, the worse they'll look in the long run? Someone on this forum theorized that the real reason Trump is cutting millions of advertising is that he needs money for lawyer feeds after the election is over.

I know it feels like wishful thinking, but I am starting to see a wavering in support I haven't seen much of before in the Trump supporters and the people around Trump.

For five years, the GOP has tiptoed around a problem. They hate Trump. They really do. However, they don't want to alienate his followers, because they know they need them to get elected.

That's how he won the nomination four years ago. The other serious candidates treated him with kid gloves and didn't jump all over him in the early debates, because they didn't take him seriously, but they wanted to pick up his 20-30% following in the GOP. The other candidates split up the sane vote in the GOP primaries, leaving enough left to make Trump the front-runner. By the nature of the bizarre primary system we use, by the time they realized what was happening it was too late to stop him. Even then, they didn't like him. i thought he was doomed after the pussy grabbing tape, not because I thought it was actually awful, but because 11 Republican senators publicly disavowed him after that. They thought it gave them cover to denounce him, because with no chance of winning, they didn't want to be attached to him.

After he was elected, things changed. They still hate him. How could anyone not? However, they love what he does. He is faithful to the GOP agenda in almost every way. He even goes to places where they won't admit they want to go. He's not afraid of being called racist of sexist or whatever. he just doesn't care. Now, they think he might be going down, and they are a bit miffed about it, because if he does, he'll take some with him, and they still don't like him, so they may jettison him, but they still have to play a game where they worry about alienating his voters.

It's part of his divisive nature. The people who love him, love him. They will be angry, and will remember, anyone who "betrays him" in the GOP. On the other hand, the rest of us hate him. I don't hate most GOP politicians. On rare occasions I even vote for them. i hate Trump. Senators in less-than pure "red states" have to worry about alienating swing voters by supporting Trump.

But, if it's obvious he is going down, they'll abandon him.

What worries me is that it was "obvious" he was going to lose last time. That didn't go according to the script.

The problem with wishful thinking isn't that it's wishful thinking, it's that it hopes for outcomes that can't be determined until after it's too late to do anything about it if they don't come true.

Or look at it this way. The problem with Russian Roulette isn't the 1 in 6 chance. It's the fact that only way to determine the outcome is to pull the trigger. Russian Roulette where you could just open the chamber and check wouldn't be Russian Roulette.

Yeah it is more than possible that the GOP won't dig in their heels for Trump as much as they are acting like they are going to do. The only problem is we are only going to find out after it's too late to do anything about if they are.

So just assume they are going to. There's no risk of making the election too fair and too transparent that we have to worry about over-correcting to.
I hate to say this, but you seem to be assuming that everyone else sees this through rose-tinted glasses and you're the only one scared of Trump getting the most electors, or stealing the election after losing - or heck, even stealing it before he even knows if he's won or lost (which, of course, he's already trying to do, and which the GOP has frankly been doing for a long time already).

So just to set the record straight, I'm terrified of both of these - plus the political unrest and acts of violence and terrorism that's bound to happen after the election, win or lose.

Again, I'm not growing complacent. I know 85% isn't 100%. I'm just thinking out loud is all.

What worries me is that it was "obvious" he was going to lose last time. That didn't go according to the script.

Last time there was genuine complacency, people simply couldn't imagine Trump in the White House, it was safe to sit at home because Clinton was uninspiring or register a protest vote to send a message to 'President Clinton'. This time around there are no excuses.

The Commission on Presidential Debates is supposedly bipartisan w/ an equal number of Rs and Ds. I know all of the Republicans and most are friends of mine. I am concerned that none of them support @realDonaldTrump.
A biased Debate Commission is unfair.

Not sure if to post this here, in the "Trump has COVID-19" thread, or in the "mental illness" thread.

Anyway, Trump will hold a rally in Florida on Monday :boggled:

If you want to attend: https://events.donaldjtrump.com/eve...t=main_menu&utm_medium=web&utm_source=djt_web

We can only hope the attendees plan to vote in person. The people who get infected and come down with serious disease should be incapacitate or dead on November 3rd.

Gosh, I thought it was the bipartisanship that makes it fair, not whether or not they actively support the president.

Seriously. And if you have to be "concerned" that none of the members of the Committee who are Republicans actively support that party's candidate for President, that sounds like a problem with (and for) the party, and its candidate, not the Committee.

In a post-fact world that's how "bias" works. "Bias" is now "doesn't agree with me."

I am actually a little surprised that Dole is a Trump-tard.

He's been out of the political spotlight for years (so its not like he has to worry about the rest of the MAGAchuds.) And although he might have some conservative views (e.g. on tax cuts), he didn't seem to have the same isolationist/America first mentality that Trump has.

ETA: As for the lack of Trump-tards on the debate commission... No, that does not make it "unfair". If one side is rational and the other side is completely irrational, the proper course of action is to minimize the irrational side.

I was just surprised he's still alive. He's 97. But I like heroes who weren't wounded!

TRump will giv e a speech tommorow from the White House Balcony to a crowd of supporters.
That sort of makes his Mussolini imitation complete.

So far figures show that 22.4% of early voters in Georgia did not vote in the 2016 election

Checking Wikipedia, "Coconut Creek is adjacent to "Mount Trashmore", officially known as the Monarch Hill Renewable Energy Park, which has long emitted foul odors into the air of the city."

At least they're accustomed to having things that stink in their city.

I remember seeing the balcony in Rome where Mussolini used to give his speeches from near the "Wedding Cake" at the far end of the Forum. I always thought the resemblance was more than skin deep.
