Trump and Melania test positive test positive for Covid 19

No, I understand your system of government and watched horrified as your President used vital supplies as bargaining chips to get compliments from governors, lambasted governors for taking the kinds of steps that would help to control the spread of Covid-19, did nothing to address shortages in key supplies until far too late.

Of course a pandemic doesn't respect state borders and that's exactly why a clear national message accompanied by action would have helped. Instead President Trump did nothing useful and spread lies and disinformation.
And worse. He actively encouraged people to defy the measures put in place by states. Measures promoted by the experts in his own administration. He made it political, and the cultists happily obliged.

Have you not heard of the Defense Production Act?

"Memorandum on Order Under the Defense Production Act Regarding 3M Company"

The facts do not support your narrative.

The results don’t match your narrative. Take a look at how this was implemented and the results:

Okay. Now I will remain in the thread but don’t wish to continue to reply to more, so easily discredited posts. But enjoy!

Let me get this right. Trump has the ability to tackle Covid abroad but not in the US. Ummmm

It was satire! A joke! Trump’s famous for joking on different matters. Like claiming he will serve more than 2 terms.

You know IMHO this has strayed badly off topic. There is another thread on the USA’s political response to covid-19. This thread is, well, the OP. Trump and Melania’s positive covid test and their responses to it. Including the effects of it on other people and the precautions taken.

Well yeah because when the foundation is "LOL let's troll the libz" anything built on is as well.

Trump isn't Obama or Bush or Reagan or Clinton or even Nixon. We can't have a discussion about him that isn't "about" him.

There is no separating Trump the trolling Poe but he's doing it ironically performance art person from anything he's doing.

I'm sure Norway has done a stand up job but likely was not targeted. Many in the US believe this was a direct result of the trade war with China.

Ahahahaha I feel real bad for anyone who wasted time trying to explain anything to this conspiracy theorist.

When did they tell you all this info? In January? Because that's when the US was hit. Or did they inform you of the situation based on events already transpiring elsewhere? There is a difference. It's a bit more difficult to work within an unprecedented situation.

I don't believe Americans are "fragile" a quick glance thru history shows that much. However I understand there are many around the World that don't like Americans for one reason or another and that's perfectly fine. Well still be there for you if needed.

Hindsight is 20/20.

Nonsense. You clearly aren't familiar with the actual timeline. Trump was hand waving it away from the very beginning. He dismissed its dangers to the public from the very beginning.

May 2018. Trump disbands the White House pandemic response team.
July 2019 The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) epidemiologist embedded in China’s disease control agency left her post, and the Administration decided to eliminate the role.
October 2019 “Currently, there are insufficient funding sources designated for the federal government to use in response to a severe influenza pandemic.” [Crimson Contagion exercise findings]
January 22“We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine
January 28“This will be the biggest national security threat you face in your presidency...This is going to be the roughest thing you face" Trump’s National Security Advisor to Trump
January 30 "The lack of immune protection or an existing cure or vaccine would leave Americans defenseless in the case of a full-blown coronavirus outbreak on US soil,...This lack of protection elevates the risk of the coronavirus evolving into a full-blown pandemic, imperiling the lives of millions of Americans.” [Memo from Trump Trade Advisor Peter Navarro]
February 2 “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”
February 7 “It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flu... This is deadly stuff” [Trump in a private taped interview with Bob Woodward, made public September 9]
February 10 “I think the virus is going to be—it’s going to be fine.”
February 10 “Looks like by April, you know in theory when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away.”::boggled:
February 24“The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”
February 25 “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.”
February 25“I think that's a problem that’s going to go away… They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.” HUH?!
February 26“The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”
February 26 “We're going very substantially down, not up.”
February 26“Well, we're testing everybody that we need to test. And we're finding very little problem. Very little problem.”
February 26 "This is a flu. This is like a flu."
February 27 “It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear
March 2 “A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and they’re happening very rapidly.”
March 4 “Now, and this is just my hunch, and — but based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this. Because a lot people will have this and it's very mild.” :jaw-dropp
March 4“If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.”
March 5“The United States… has, as of now, only 129 cases… and 11 deaths. We are working very hard to keep these numbers as low as possible!”
March 6“I think we’re doing a really good job in this country at keeping it down… a tremendous job at keeping it down.”
March 6“You have to be calm. It’ll go away.”:jaw-dropp
March 6 “I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it… Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.”
March 6 “Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. They’re there. And the tests are beautiful…. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.”

March 6 “I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault.”
March 7“When we get into April, in the warmer weather—that has a very negative effect on that, and that type of a virus.”
March 7 “No, I’m not concerned at all.
March 8“We have a perfectly coordinated and fine-tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus.”
March 9 During a news conference, White House officials say the U.S. will have tested one million people that week and thereafter would complete 4 million tests per week. By the end of the week, the CDC had only completed a paltry 4,000 tests

This is just the beginning of Trump's timeline of bad decisions, total incompetence and diarrhea of talking out his ass on COVID. This is what happens when we appoint a moron who spends his days watching TV and responding to negative news instead of doing his job.

The link gives a day after day of Trump and the Administration spin on COVID. I just provided the first couple of months. It continues. You should look at it. Lie after lie after lie and it continues to this day.

1. We have so many cases because there were many flights that came into New York from China before the travel restrictions were in place. If you recall China banned flights within their own Country yet were happy to send folks to the US.

2. President Trump has done well in an unprecedented situation. But he was called "xenophobe" by Democrats and ridiculed early on for his decision to protect the US with travel restrictions. The President is not to blame for the failures of individual state Governors. After all it was not President Trump who placed Covid patients in nursing homes in New York and other states.

Do you feel Biden would have done a better job? If so how?
Let me try again.

Re: the highlighted, are you saying or implying that these "restrictions" prevented all individuals, be they disease-carrying or healthy, from entering the U.S.?

Perhaps you misunderstand our system of Government. The states here are controlled by their respective elected Governors. President Trump's job was and is to support those Governors and provide whatever they need to battle this virus. He has done so. In fact he was praised by some of those Governors who are Democrats.

You mean, like how the elected government of Massachusetts in the early days of the pandemic tried to protect their vital medical personnel because personal protective equipment was in short supply, by ordering millions of dollars worth of PPE, and the Federal government intercepted and confiscated the shipment on Trump's orders, probably ultimately costing hundreds of lives in Massachusetts? Is that how our system of government is supposed to work? Because it seems more like an act of war.

Except that, here in Canada, the separation of powers between the Federal and Provincial governments is very similar. In fact, delivery of healthcare is specifically a Provincial responsibility, one that the Provinces (normally) jealously guard against encroachments by the Federal government.

And yet, all levels of government realized that they were facing an unprecedented, national-level health threat, and worked together to respond as well as possible. We didn't have Justin Trudeau telling the Provinces to fight amongst themselves for equipment, while getting the Feds to outbid them and hijack their shipments.

So this excuse is a lame as all the others.

Did he at least apportion out PPE to states based on their political leadership? That is what a true leader does.

The best evidence that Trump downplayed the virus? The fact that he SAID he downplayed it!

Jeez, how much more would anyone need?
