Trump and Melania test positive test positive for Covid 19

This is really weird. I started this thread yesterday but it now says "marting" started it and it begins with his post. Very strange.

Fair play

That might be plausible. But it means Trump is giving up his rallies, at least for a while. Would he pay that price? And Nixon's phlebitis got worse after he resigned and after he was pardoned, and it was a condition he had had previously. Hard to believe he and his docs made it up.

True. That's why I said that it really hurt.

I thought back then that it was both a real ailment and a convenient one. Nixon genuinely felt sorry for himself, and had a genuine flairup of the collewobbles in his poor little leg.

This time? This other dog? Maybe. Or a good excuse for him to retire on account of poor little health.

That Conservapedia cite,

Is that supposed to be parody? Wouldn't Trump be surrounded with loyal aides who would make sure his treatment was appropriate and get him to a hospital as a precaution? If the writer was being serious, he/she must think that Trump is so intensely disliked by everyone in the White House that they would do whatever they could to sabotage his health.

What a bizarre statement.

ETA:

So this is meant seriously? Does anyone realize what it says about his ability to inspire loyal assistants?

This is Andy Schlafly, spawn of Phyllis, who thinks that the theory of relativity is a liberal plot, and creator of the Conservative Bible Project, because the King James Version (1611) is contaminated with liberal thinking.

Note they waited till after markets closed to move Trump to Walter Reed.

On a Friday.

In general, what would a hospital have that isn't replicable in a White House suite?

A fully trained and experienced ICU staff who is used to being there 24/7.

Rewatching the tape of him walking to Marine One, it is very evident that he was not wearing makeup today.

850 Americans died of COVID-19 yesterday.
None got the special “antibody cocktail.”

Fox News is suggesting that Biden suspend his campaign for 14 days.

As if the tables were turned Trump would.

:sdl::sdl::sdl:

Biden can keep hammering the message that we must listen to the experts and come together as Americans.

Want to be patriotic? Wear the damn mask.
Don't do it for yourself.
Do it for your brothers and sisters.
Do it for your parents and grandparents.
Do it for your neighbors.

Do it for your country.

I mean sure, that view makes sense in a cold, emotionless robot kind of way. But I always thought that one of the things that made Trump a particularly evil person was what all those things in your list suggest about him: He gives zero ***** for anyone but himself and what's good for him. And I thought what made (most of) the rest of us different from people like him is that we were capaple of empathy towards other people, even if we hate them. I see no upside in selectively discarding basic human decency; it just puts us at his level. It suggests that all of us are capable of being just as "cruel and thoroughly nasty" as Trump is.

The victimized being thoroughly nasty toward the victimizer is a whole level of different that the victimizer being thoroughly nasty toward the victimized.

It's in the same vein of the father attacking the rapist who defiled his daughter.

It's part of our nature. It's why we have prisons. And in some jurisdictions still, the death penalty. Humanity has a ways to go evolutionarily before the doctrine of turning the other cheek sticks in our DNA. Until then, we'll some of us revel in the just desserts befalling the wicked.

And Trump is wicked, even if for only the one sin of knowing early on how potent was the virus and "playing it down", to the detriment of at least 100,000 people who needlessly perished and aren't here to see a small dose of Karma at work. Screw him. I feel the same kind of rage against him as induced by the likes of Stalin.

Well said, though I think you're working too hard answering disingenuous crap.

Even if we're being unnecessarily cruel, the target of that cruelty will never know the difference. The unnecessary cruelty of Trump and virtually his entire family is aimed at people who actually suffer as a direct result. They know it and do it anyway.
