Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 24

I remember last Christmas when the big hub-ub was how the White House was decorated for Christmas and I thought that was just as silly for largely the same reasons.

Again it's not like finding things to criticize Trump or Melania for is like super difficult and whining about stuff like this just seems petty.

Just looked over the old vs the new Rose Garden because I thought people were exaggerating how bad the new is.

Before and after photos of Melania Trump's Rose Garden renovation

Here Are The Before And After Photos Of Melania Trump's White House Rose Garden Renovations

She removed the majority of the blossoming trees, took out all the colorful tulips and put in a lot of white somethings, (roses I guess).

When were the photos taken? Surely tulips would be dormant by now, so who knows whether they were taken out.

Certainly seems she didn't like the trees. To be honest, the trees may have blocked sunlight for the roses.

Damn my wife for teaching me more about gardening. As others have said, this is by far the most trivial change in the White House.

Much like the rest of the U.S.A., they wanted to remove all of the color they could find...

The Xmas thing was because it looked like the setting for a horror movie, or something David Lynchian. There's a difference between "this person demonstrates a lack of good taste" (the current garden thing) and "this person displays tastes that suggest they are a serial killer/alien/eldritch horror/mental patient".

If I ever become First Gentleman (unlikely) and I have too many tulips put into the WH gardens I will get some criticism. It will be different criticism, in type and degree, than that which I'd get if I replaced the WH curtains with artifical flesh with visible veins and had the floors and walls replaced with rusty grates a la Silent Hill. Which, to be honest, I'd totally do.

Yeah, like someone who doesn't know how tulips work would be really outraged by this. Also - the first 2 photos aren't of the same space at all, despite being next to each other as before / after.

Really - there is plenty to be outraged about besides this.

I heard Melania eats Snickers bars with a knife and fork!

I’m ******** losing it.

Imagine if you asked Trump “there was an attack on the US. Another country is prepared To risk the lives of their soldiers to help us. Would you prefer that that county’s motivation be to fight global terrorism or to curry favor with the US?” Can anyone doubt the first thing he would say is “what does curry mean?” and his second response would be “Obviously the latter.”

What is gained by trolling Canada with this offensive stupidity?!

He wants to get even with Trudeau for ... reasons.

Trump hates Canada because they took down the Trump on the property he had licensed.
Therefore, Canada is worse than North Korea, which still might license a Trump Tower.

That's all.
Oh yeah. That was so long ago but I forgot Trump has the best memory in the world... in history!!!

The question is, what was wrong with the way it was?

Can you imagine what trashy remodeling is going on inside the WH?

The WH isn't just a residence, it's an official showplace. Redoing things regularly is expected and even required-- they can't just keep the place the same for years even if it looks good. It's not like grandma and grandpa's house which didn't change a bit since they moved in during the 60s.

Well, if they had not removed the plastic from the upholstered furniture.....

Trump offered a comment on the basketball boycott. Three guesses what he referenced. Starts with "R" and rhymes with "hating", and it's the only thing that matters to him.

"I know their ratings have been very bad because I think people are a little tired of the NBA," he said. "They've become like a political organization, and that's not a good thing."

Jared and Pence's Chief of Staff were just dismissive.

"In my mind, it's absurd and silly," said Marc Short, Pence's chief of staff, on CNN. "If they wanna protest, I don't think we care."

"Look, I think that the NBA players are very fortunate that they have the financial position where they're able to take a night off from work without having to have the consequences to themselves financially so they have that luxury which is great," Kushner said on CNBC.

A combination of "You have money, why are you complaining?" and "You aren't suffering, so why should anybody care?" If you don't give up everything and don a hair-shirt, your protests don't count. He also doesn't seem to understand the concept of showing empathy, thiking only of the money involved.

I don't know where to put this, but I'll put it here:
Utah Congressional Candidate Burgess Owens at the RNC claimed that popular members of Congress promote the same socialism his father fought in World War II.

And it wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, either.

LOL, like Kushner can understand what it's like to work a job that you can't take PTO, or afford to miss a shift. Real man of the people!

Well, while romantic, the "before" seems a bit seedy. A garden like that needs to be constantly trimmed. The new ... "Victorian" style is not my taste, but ... taste cant be evaluated. In short, I fail to see the outrage in this. I'ts just a garden, for ****** sake.
