2020 Democratic Candidates Tracker Part III

How is it a question? Sanders puts it out there in his "Democrats are corrupt" fear mongering. And yet he runs as a Democrat.

I don’t know what your argument is. I get that you don’t like Sanders, but not how that relates to superdelegates etc...

According to that NPR piece, superdelegates come into play only if nobody gets a 50% plus one at the convention. Sanders thinks the party should nominate the person with the most delegates up to that point. I tend to agree with him, whether it is for his stated reasons (did he actually say “Democrats are corrupt”?), or more likely because it seems fairer to me to simply choose the most popular candidate by counting who received the most delegates. The optics also matter. If he gets 47% and then somehow Michael Bloomberg is selected when the superdelegates get their way, it would be disastrous from a PR point of view.

Buttgieg with some great one-liners:

And most Americans don't see where they fit if they've got to choose between a socialist who thinks that capitalism is the root of all evil and a billionaire who thinks that money ought to be the root of all power.

We shouldn't have to choose between one candidate who wants to burn this party down and another candidate who wants to buy this party out.

But his closing the deal line leaves something to be desired:

Let's put forward somebody who actually lives and works in a middle-class neighborhood, in an industrial Midwestern city. Let's put forward somebody who's actually a Democrat.

It still amazes me that there are people with this attitude.

Well, yes, sadly there are still a lot of men down this part of the world that seem to believe that women are pretty much only useful for two things and that for them to help out doing the housework or help with the kids is some sort of sacrilege.

It still amazes me that there are people with this attitude.

Particularly men, who let’s face it, have no idea how to clean up after themselves.

Honestly, Warren’s comments were totally inoffensive. It was something that used to be known as a joke. Not a great example of its kind maybe. As a fossil of a by-gone-era it was more of a coprolite than a full T-Rex body trapped in amber, but still a joke.

To say it is an example of sexism sounds like an attempt to put-woke the wokees.

It is. I am sure that most of those being offended don't even know if they are being offended for men being told that they make messes they don't clean up, for women being told that they are always called in to clean up after men, or just offended that a woman dares to think she might be able to do something men have been screwing up for the last 243 years.

Is there anyone around who is actually offended by her comment?

To me, as well, it seems like a nothing burger in search of a condiment.

I doubt that anyone is truly offended by the comment, but I do think that there is a certain degree of offense at the environment that surrounds it. Let me explain.

I think the real offense isn't at the comment itself, but at the idea of who is allowed to make that sort of comment. Imagine if a man had said, "Washington is a mess. We should elect a woman. They're good at cleaning things up."

That's comforting.

As for Liz, I've decided I like her a lot more, too. Yes, she's still too close to socialist for my taste, but I would rather have an intellectual socialist than an ideologue socialist. Still, what I fear is that Bloomberg's money will take the wind out of everyone's sails except Bernie, but Bloomberg himself doesn't have the staying power for the Democratic nomination, so by the end of Super Tuesday, Bernie will pretty much have things wrapped up.

This whole primary system is a messed up way of picking a president.

I think Bloomberg should have just spent the money on ads attacking Trump and encouraging people to vote, and not run himself.

I regret mentioning it. I just thought it was funny, being such a lame joke. It wasn't meant to be a serious commentary on anything, other than how ridiculous the campaign trail is. Does anyone really think Warren is a sexist?

but women do be cleanin' though.

To poke at how that started off...

That was a pretty great speech.

Quite frankly most of the men I know wouldn't have a clue how to operate a vacuum cleaner, let alone find the window and bench cleaners.

Really? Where do you live? That sounds odd in this day and age.

Particularly men, who let’s face it, have no idea how to clean up after themselves.

Same question and comment as above.

I live in Japan. It ain't odd in the slightest in Japan.

But anyway, it was clearly just a poor joke. A bit stale? Sure, but I will bet that really nobody cares.

I am sure that your wife appreciated all those times you got up at 3am to change the kid's diaper.
Of topic but I did 99% of the late night diapers and bottles.

Quite frankly most of the men I know wouldn't have a clue how to operate a vacuum cleaner,
I think in today's world that isn't true. I certainly am the champ at getting pet hair off the roller.

let alone find the window and bench cleaners.
Got me there. I don't even know what a bench cleaner is much less where I would find it.

Especially if it was an old , white republican man.
