Says the president who once suggested allowing police to seize the firearms of people they think are dangerous, without a court order, and then follow up later with 'due process'.

Why are the democrats not taking out ads on TV, with nothing but these contradictions? A short 15 second ad, first showing Trump talking about protecting gun rights, followed by him talking about taking guns away. Hardcore gun nuts will still vote republican, but it may make a few of the more moderate people recognize that Trump can't be trusted (on gun rights or anything else).

ETA: Just wondering... when you talked about protecting the 2nd by getting a gun and learning to shoot it, were you referring to learning to shoot the gun, or shooting the 2nd amendment (in a sort of "burn the villiage to save it" sort of way)

I can see Trump attempting the former but achieving the latter by accident, then claiming it was intentional and a tremendously clever victory.

Those dangerous people would, of course, be those who are not White, Male Christian (and not the wrong kind of Christian, either) MAGA-hat wearers.

That was a very interesting article. Directly after the above quote was this:

Typical Trump and completely believable based on past behavior. I really do believe he has a reading comprehension problem. It's why he gets lost when he's reading. He doesn't know where to make normal pauses or put normal stresses. He can read the words, but he trips up because he has no understanding of what he's reading.

Given Trump's knack for screwing up even a certain thing, it will be himself who he will shoot in Fifth Avenue.

...and the public in NYC will just walk around his corpse.

While I haven't yet seen an ad on guns, Bloomberg has taken this approach in his ads. He shows Trump lying then switches to how Bloomberg will do the right thing.

I try and avoid NYC at all costs, but I'd fly in a middle seat between 2 year old twins with ADHD from the West Coast on a midnight flight to see that.
