Michael Avenatti thread

that's news to me.
Why don't you quote a post of mine that would support this?

...I have been a fan of Avenatti, and I have no problem with him getting 30 years.
I assume, then, that you meant to type "I have never been a fan of Avenatti"?

Whatever, just try and watch Don Lemon or Bill Maher (among so many other idiots) nuzzling Avenetti's ringpiece a mere few months ago without cringing.

The immediately obvious comparison/conclusion to make:

Avenetti supporters learn from mistakes; Trump supporters are ineducable brainwashed morons.

Michael Avenatti ordered to stay in jail as his criminal trials begin

He was (allegedly) continuing to commit more crimes while out on bail.

A federal judge revoked the bail of Los Angeles attorney Michael Avenatti on Wednesday and ordered him jailed while awaiting trial on three indictments, saying new allegations of fraud and money laundering show he poses a danger to the public.

Judge James V. Selna of U.S. District Court in Santa Ana agreed with prosecutors that it appeared Avenatti had broken federal and state laws by hiding $1 million from one of his ex-wives and other creditors after his arrest in March.

Avenatti was escorted out of the courtroom by a uniformed U.S. marshal. His first criminal trial, on charges that he tried to extort more than $20 million from sports giant Nike, is set to begin this month in New York federal court.

Avenatti was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon at a California State Bar Court hearing. The state bar is seeking to block him from practicing law while he faces bank fraud, tax evasion and other charges in the three federal indictments. Prosecutors have accused him of stealing millions from his own clients.
In the new court papers, prosecutors describe elaborate steps Avenatti allegedly took to hide the $1 million he received five weeks after his arrest last year by shifting it through multiple bank accounts and splitting it into a carefully timed sequence of cashier’s checks.

He is a right sleaze bag, him and Trump were made for each other. Surprised Trump hasn't offered him job.

Avenatti had a very bad day. Got arrested by the feds for bail violations for one of his two federal criminal trials (on opposite coasts, for convenience) while attending his bar trial to see if he would lose his license (he did).

It seems like this guy was spinning plates for years with all his various schemes and they have all come collapsing down spectacularly.

I was just thinking about this thread the other day but never got around to seeing what was happening with him.

Almost makes me miss TBD. Except he did not seem to understand that nobody here really cared for Avenatti.

That blindspot was pretty funny. Thought he was scoring one over the libs.

I think he has to face justice for what he's done and alleged to have done. That said, he was the gutter rat America needed to go after our gutter rat president. For that, the nation owes him a debt of gratitude. It does not excuse his other criminal behavior.

Seems like you needed a gutter rat that could (a) stay after Trump for more than two and a half news cycles, and (b) could actually make something stick.

Trump isn't out of office yet and he could still be indicted over the payments to Stormy. It may stick yet.

The payment violated campaign finance laws and is the reason Cohen when to prison. Trump was a coconspirator.
That won't happen. It won't happen while he's president and if he's defeated no one will care.

Just as his supporters don't care that he paid off a porn star who he shagged while his wife was home with their new baby boy.

Won't happen. As much as I believe Trump certainly has committed crimes and deserves to serve time for his actions, there is precedent that sets which scares politicians. Unless it can be proven that Trump killed or was involved in killing someone, they are never going to put a former POTUS behind bars.
