The Trump Presidency: Part 18

I still find it astounding to have seen in a recent Trump tweet his exhortation that, without him, the radical Left will take away everyone's "religion and guns." Only in the screwed up US will the world see the leader of an erstwhile civilized nation essentially concatenate those two words.

And what's alarming is that so many of the so-called 'Christians' he's screaming to do indeed cleave to guns as fervently as they do to their Lord. In the process defiling the concept of a follower of Christ.

And in a general bit of trivia, a radio host who I think of as fairly conservative was totally turned off by Trump's casual shot at Debbie Dingell, the congressional widow who took her late husband's place in the House. He made a joke that her husband might be "looking up"; i.e. he might be in hell. A tiny thing, but maybe it adds to a generalized sense of fatigue. I think even erstwhile supporters are getting sick of the guy. That might just be me looking for signs of hope that this is the case.

So much cringe.

Some women like 'bad boys'; they're attracted to their wildness and unpredictability and may even get off on being treated badly....at first. But after a while, the novelty wears off and they get fed up with what they used to find attractive. I've known a couple women like that. Hopefully, some people will start losing their attraction to 'bad boy Donnie' and see him for what he really is: someone who treats no one with respect, including them.

But Jesus!

Yep.

I've posted that link before (maybe in a different thread) but it's worth noting again that it is the Republicans who do as much as they can, including illegal crap, to keep non-GOP voters away from the voting booth. It's absolutely disgusting.

I wonder what Americans will have to do to preserve their democracy, but it isn't looking good.

My spell checker is out to get me. :o:o

Almost certainly. They always have been. (N.B.; the original Spellchecker Poem was composed in 1991.)

Far worse though is Autocorrect. Which, it should be pointed out, can and ought to be turned off.

Spell Check probably can be turned off as well, but used prudently it can provide some advantages. Okay as a review aid, but perhaps not to rely on.

I commented a while ago that a lot of Trump's Tweets endorsing candidates look like Mad Libs.

That's perfect. And I don't mean in a phone call way.

Trump Tweets

A far left magazine, or very “progressive,” as some would call it, which has been doing poorly and hasn’t been involved with the Billy Graham family for many years, Christianity Today, knows nothing about reading a perfect transcript of a routine phone call and would rather.....

....have a Radical Left nonbeliever, who wants to take your religion & your guns, than Donald Trump as your President. No President has done more for the Evangelical community, and it’s not even close. You’ll not get anything from those Dems on stage. I won’t be reading ET again!
Or shaking his huge hand, either!

I strongly disagree. Trump's core couldn't tell you what a democracy was, most couldn't name the three branches of government and I'd bet about half couldn't name the VP. No, they're not interested in Trump''s policies or good governance.
.....

You misunderstand. My point was pretty much the same as yours: the Trumpers are contemptuous of democracy and the rule of law, they embrace an authortarian leader, and the link I posted makes that argument effectively.

Off Topic:
I turned off spell check, autocorrect, and grammar check at work. Frequently. Sometimes two or three thymes a weak, as they came back every time IT updated anything.

I'm seeing a trend of far leftists, usually socialists and anarchists, some Ron Paul types, pushing Ben Garrison and Antonio Branco cartoons, straight up mouthpieces for the Republican establishment just to stick it to the Dems and the anti-Trump resistance as it were.

It's amusing and confusing. So you'd rather have Trump allow safe passage for more Republican bills? Why are you more outraged by "the Resistance" than Trump?

We know who the usual suspects are here, but I'm seeing a lot of that on social media as well at the risk of sounding like Travis.
