I strongly disagree. Trump's core couldn't tell you what a democracy was, most couldn't name the three branches of government and I'd bet about half couldn't name the VP. No, they're not interested in Trump''s policies or good governance.

No, they're into stickin' it to the libtards. They're "mad as hell and aren't going to take it any more" and they see the exact same thing with Trump. He's angry, he talks like them (****hole countries), he's hates the browns (the Wall) and the Muslims. By god, Betty Sue, he's one of us!!!!!!!

Note, I'm talking about his core base. There are lots of conservatives who are quite different from the above description, but you sure as hell won't find them at a Trump rally.

I've given up on trying to predict what effect a given piece of news has on overall opinion, but I really don't think "Christianity Today" is a big influencer. People are probably more tuned into their particular pastor or congregation. It could still matter, particularly if Trump keeps trash-tweeting about it.

The magazine interested me in a general way as someone who wrote feature stories involving religion. That was a bunch of years ago. I wouldn't have characterized it as a big indicator of the "evangelical" mindset. However, the fact they're writing about it at all might signal a general souring of the mood. It wasn't a political publication.

When I was a clerk at a newspaper I got all the religion mail because I typed up a "Church Events" column. I quite liked "Christianity Today" and was surprised to read that Billy Graham started it up. It was only mildly religious - not what I associate with today's evangelicals. Nowadays if someone identifies as "Christian" I probably assume they're Republicans, but the left-of-centers have probably gotten a foothold at "Christianity Today." I live in a UCC-owned campus and they're liberal as hell.

I doubt if the magazine has much influence, though.

It's nice and also terrible that you're equating having principles and decency with being left of center. Incidentally, to be clear, while the Democratic Party is, indeed, less dominated by Christianity and religion, a huge chunk of it is made up by devout Christians.

Michigan steel mill closure announced two days after Trump told Michigan crowd 'steel is back'

That's another 1500 steel jobs lost, by the look of it, very likely due to Trump.

A single fracking well in Ohio vented more methane in 20 days than whole nations do in a year.

Ugh.

No need to worry. All those steel workers will simply transfer over to all those rebounding coal jobs.
 
And in a general bit of trivia, a radio host who I think of as fairly conservative was totally turned off by Trump's casual shot at Debbie Dingell, the congressional widow who took her late husband's place in the House. He made a joke that her husband might be "looking up"; i.e. he might be in hell. A tiny thing, but maybe it adds to a generalized sense of fatigue. I think even erstwhile supporters are getting sick of the guy. That might just be me looking for signs of hope that this is the case.

So much cringe.
