Hopefully it will last long enough for you to realize it's not about Hillary losing 2016, it's about a criminal that won. Maybe you should try rereading the post you just quoted.....and do try paying attention to what it says this time.
 
Well, that Family Guy just came on, and said that he acknowledges that they've been there a long time today, but he has several more amendments he's going to put forth tonight.

Note: When I first thought of that snarky name upon seeing him, I didn't know his name was really "Guy".

News Flash: Dems already know Clinton will never be president. We're not the ones who need to get over Clinton.
 
So the idea that the President can never do anything wrong because it goes against the will of the people and any punitive action taken against the President is trying to "over turn the election" is where we're landing?

Newsflash. "The People" elected Congress as much as they elected Trump.

The Clinton impeachment backfired on the Republicans long before the Senate trial. By the time there was a trial, the GOP found itself trying to save face and justifying the impeachment and also trying to put it in the rear view mirror quickly.

I laugh when people compare the impeachments as if we can learn something from the previous events. We can't. Clinton was being impeached because he lied in a deposition about a consensual sexual relationship. And the only reason it got anyone's attention was the three years of investigating a real estate deal morphed into finding some way of embarrassing Clinton. What should be noted was how Clinton dealt with impeachment. He barely complained or said a word about it and focused on everything else.

The voters not only didn't care, they punished the GOP for its actions.

In contrast, Trump's impeachment arose from a whistleblower's complaint that the President was using military aid to Ukraine as a way to smear his major political opponent.
Trump in contrast to Clinton has whined non-stop through it all.

The majority of the country believe that impeachment is justified. The idea there will be some kind of voter backlash because of the impeachment is a stretch.
 
I don't think the impeachment will have much of an effect at all. Those who see Trump for what he is will still either vote Dem, a possible independent (doubtful) or not vote at all. Trump supporters will still vote for him. They just don't care.

This is why I voted for "about a week". It needs to be long enough that they can pretend they "considered all the evidence", but not long enough for it to look like a circus. If they're smart, that is.

At this point, they've said all the stupid stuff they needed to say to rile up their own base. What they need to do now is avoid riling up the Democrat's base, and independent voters, any more than they already have. Weeks or months of rage, lies and conspiracy theories won't get them any new votes, but it likely will get the Dems new votes.

My hope is that they're not that smart, and will go all-in on an endless three-ring circus with monkeys and elephants and clowns and PETA protests and some weird Chinese act that makes everyone scratch their head, with a Putin look-alike as Ringmaster.

We've been handing the Republicans more and more rope for the last 3 years under the "Eventually they will hang themselves" concept and they don't seem to every getting around to do it.

Sooner or later we need we need to accept that this "If we just give the Republicans the opportunity to make fools of themselves they will show themselves for what they are" moment is never going to actually come.

It almost came in the last Presidential election. Trump only won because of a few thousand votes in a few key states. It won't take that much more rope to hang him in 2020.

And it did come in the last mid-term election, where the GOP lost the House. They really only avoided losing the Senate because there was an imbalance in how many Dems vs. Pubs seats were up for election, due to the way the Senate election cycles work.

It's not a forgone conclusion, but it's not ridiculously unlikely, either. Crazy goes in waves, and eventually we have to hit the crest of this current wave.
 
I voted for a week or less, but that's me being unjustifiably optimistic. Given the brazen collusion taking place, if it lasts more than a day (or as long as it takes to complete opening statements, which in theory could be two days) I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Exactly. And if the Senate votes to remove him from office, he will be succeeded by a duly-elected Republican. The election won't be overturned or handed to the opposing party.
 
If it takes an hour or less, everybody is correct (because a month or less is also an hour or less).

The real losers in this will be D reps in Trump districts who vote for Trumpeachment and lose their seats. When they won in 2018 trump was not on the ballot. This time he will be and Trump supporters will vote them out of office.

I hope you are right, because a Trump win is essential for my plan to kick off the next civil war. (Next step:- nuke California!).

I don't think it will make a difference though. The Deplorables in 'Trump' districts are bound to vote against Democrats anyway - impeachment or no. Because they are deplorable.
