The Trump Presidency: Part 17

Why would that be possible? It isn't like he was supposed to be taken literally just seriously. His supporters never expected to hold him to what he was saying.

Sigh.

You put it in an add, Trump in his own words and show him to be a liar over and over in single talking points. That is completely different from a news or talk show.

More evidence that Trump was LYING when he claimed al-Baghdadi was 'whimpering, screaming, and crying':

Announcing Baghdadi’s death, Trump claimed that the ISIS leader was “whimpering” and likened him to a “dog” in his attempt to escape U.S. forces. Five senior Trump administration officials who watched in real time as the president spoke on Sunday morning each told The Daily Beast that they had no idea where the president got the “whimpering and crying and screaming” detail. Two officials recounted how after they heard that on Sunday, they immediately began messaging each other questions and comments like “uh where is he getting that?”

The comments confused officials in the Pentagon as well, some of who told The Daily Beast that there was no way Trump could have heard Baghdadi’s voice on the Situation Room livestream Saturday night because it did not have audio. Two senior officials said while President Trump could have spoken to commandos on the ground who carried out the raid, they said that has not often been the case in past operations.

According to CNN, "officials who worked on the speech"said it "did not resemble the one
Trump gave on Sunday. In other words, Trump went off script as he is wont to do and just pulled it out of his ass because he thought it sounded good.

I hope Democrats realize they can't sink Trump with his own words.

That's pre-2016 thinking. Ted Cruz, who was Trump-friendly early on, made some comments to the effect that he was biding his time for polling front-runner Trump to say something irreversibly stupid, and then swoop in. Trump would indeed go on to make stupid, politically incorrect comments (the highest of which was insulting John McCain's military service). Pretty much nothing happened.

The president has called his political opponents "human scum" but that was, like, a week ago, and nobody cares.
I guess no one pictures the ads I'm picturing.

Yes, he can be sunk by showing Trump's specific lies contrasted with the truth over and over in short digestible 30 sec ads.

If you can't sink him with "grab then by the ******" what can you sink him with?

This is exactly why I added, "I hope". People cannot see the difference between Trump's quotes in the news or even in the late night comedies, and multiple well designed 30 sec clips played over and over.

Also, in 2016 people wanted to believe Trump's con. What can be shown in these clips is what actually didn't happen.

I am but I still disagree. It's not like these lies haven't been well publicized. It's not like his "grab em by the *****" bit wasn't played over and over again just before the election. The fact is that his supporters just don't care that he lies. They justify their support by claiming that he was just kidding, he's being misreported, that it's the 'corrupt media' and the Dems who are really lying. That's what they do now and it's what they'll do if such a campaign ad is created.

ETA: But saying that, it would be lovely to see such a campaign ad. I hope it happens.

Not according to the past 5 years.

See my previous posts.

I get it people disagree. I wonder what they think about previous successful ad campaigns gone by?

It works, it's why people think they need whiter shirt collars and a break today. :p

I understand one member of the Republican party is probably okay with it but doesn't want anyone to know.

There use to be a faction of the Republican party that supported LGBTQ rights called Log Cabin Republicans. I wonder if it still exists.

But, but coal was so clean. And beautiful.

I’m not sure smarts are the key element in recognizing that one has been conned. After all, university professors have been conned by sleight-of-hand artists, ESP peddlers, and even Nigerian scammers. Perhaps the most important element is critical thinking skills.
I've worked in a dying industry and you just hope your job lasts as long as possible. I'm not sure it's even denial. Once you've had a "good" job (that takes some skill and has benefits) it's scary to join the gig economy in your 50s. Then find yourself competing for work against the 60 colleagues who were laid off with you.

I can't help thinking that the whimpering and whining and crying Trump heard and boasted about was the sounds of three young children being attacked by dogs.

No, you weren't thinking. A few moments serious thought would tell you that NOBODY told Dump about "whimpering and whining and crying" but, rather, that he just made that crap up to boost his own ego.
