The Trump Presidency: Part 17

"the scumbag lobbyists and liberal elite in the 94% leftist swamp of DC"

I know nothing about baseball, so I hesitate to try and summarise my thoughts on a 'typical' baseball crowd, but I'm fairly sure I wouldn't have categorised them as 'scumbag lobbyists and liberal elite'.

They are now, because they dared to boo Dear Leader.

I hope the Democrats realize they can sink Trump with his own words.

I hope Democrats realize they can't sink Trump with his own words.

That's pre-2016 thinking. Ted Cruz, who was Trump-friendly early on, made some comments to the effect that he was biding his time for polling front-runner Trump to say something irreversibly stupid, and then swoop in. Trump would indeed go on to make stupid, politically incorrect comments (the highest of which was insulting John McCain's military service). Pretty much nothing happened.

The president has called his political opponents "human scum" but that was, like, a week ago, and nobody cares.

Just remember folks... Trump digs coal!!!

https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/29/business/murray-energy-bankruptcy/index.html
The slow death of the American coal industry has forced Murray Energy, the largest private coal miner in the United States, to file for bankruptcy protection Tuesday.

So all that environmental deregulation by the Trump administration, all the attempts to force utilities to keep coal-fired power plants, and they still went bankrupt.

I wonder how all the coal miners who voted for Trump feel about him now, now that its a bit more obvious he can't deliver on the promise of reviving the coal industry, while at the same time he is undermining their health care.
But, but coal was so clean. And beautiful.

Oh, who am I kidding... they probably aren't smart enough to recognize they were conned.)

I’m not sure smarts are the key element in recognizing that one has been conned. After all, university professors have been conned by sleight-of-hand artists, ESP peddlers, and even Nigerian scammers. Perhaps the most important element is critical thinking skills.

The attack on VIndeman seems to have backfired on Trump. It seems to have erased a lot of the credit he built up with the Isis leader hit.

I've always found it odd that Trump keeps referring to the call as "perfect" but I think I've finally figured out why he uses that word: He thinks it was a "perfect" shakedown performance -- perfectly deniable because he managed to avoid saying on the call that he had already ordered a hold on the military aid. In his invincible ignorance, he refuses to understand that simply asking Ukraine to help him get re-elected was a crime and flagrant abuse of power in itself, regardless, and he is simply too stupid to realize that not mentioning the hold on the call doesn't make it irrelevant. Trump knew about it when he asked for a "favor" and if Zelensky didn't already know it, he soon would. All the other testimony moves the matter well beyond reasonable doubt, but I'll say again, if Trump wants to face his most damaging accuser at trial, someone will need to hold up a mirror.

Or. More simply: he believes everything he does is perfect. I can recall at least one instance when he was catching flak for giving a stupid answer to a question and he responded that many knowledgeable people called him to say that he gave the perfect answer.

He writes perfect letters. He makes perfect phone calls. He negotiates perfect deals.

I presume that Trump's part of this mashup is actually a spoof, but the fact that I'm questioning it is telling.

They were presented out of order, and out of context in one case, but those are actual quotes from his announcement.

The book part was him bragging about warning everyone about Osama bin Laden before anyone else knew about him.

"I wrote a book. A really very successful book. And in that book, about a year before the World Trade Center was blown up, I said there's somebody named Osama bin Laden, you better kill him or take him out, something to that effect, he's big trouble."
"And I'm writing a book. I think I wrote 12 books, all did very well."

The dog quote was actually about a military dog that participated in the operation.

"Our K9, as they call -- I call it a dog, a beautiful dog, a talented dog -- was injured and brought back, but we had no soldier injured."

Speaking of "great parenting moron," Junior is one of the worst liars I've ever seen. He acts exactly like a 12-year-old caught red-handed who lies even though he knows you know he's lying, because he thinks telling the truth would be worse. And after barely avoiding prosecution himself for the Trump Tower meeting (by being considered too stupid to realize what he was doing), Junior still doesn't understand that it's illegal for foreign governments to contribute any "thing of value" to a campaign. Letting him off missed a teaching opportunity.
White House Staffers nickname Trump Jr "Fredo" after Michael Corleone's clueless brother in "GOdfather 2" who blurts out that is working for the Corleone's enemy Hymie Roth...

"Sure I know Johnny Ola"..

To be fair to Fredo, he was smart enough to deny knowing Johnny until he was in his cups at the Havana sex show.

What did he say about Vindeman?

Trump tweet:

"Supposedly, according to the Corrupt Media, the Ukraine call 'concerned' today’s Never Trumper witness," Trump tweeted. "Was he on the same call that I was? Can’t be possible! Please ask him to read the Transcript of the call. Witch Hunt!"

He was referring to Vindman. There is no evidence that Vindman is a 'Never Trumper' but that seems to be Trump's newest name for anyone who isn't currently residing in his colon.
