The Trump Presidency: Part 17

I think this victory will be very short lived, as more news of Trump crimes come out and/or Trump does more dumb things.

It doesn’t cancel everything else out IMO. It certainly will help over the next 24-48 hours though.

I guess he felt he had to say how brilliant ISIS is to make himself look even more like a genius?

This is always part of his routine.
During the primaries, his opponents were a bunch of weak pathetic political hacks. After he won the nomination they were 19 experienced and powerful figures and he beat them all.

This is rather naive.

The target audience for a description of Baghdadi's death isn't swing voters in the US. It's the Islamic radicals and potential radicals. This is propaganda, but we need to use propaganda in an ideological war. Is it a lie? Maybe, but frankly I don't care. Humiliating him even in death is a good thing. Reasoned discourse about how much of a meanie he was don't matter, the people who can be swayed by that aren't the problem. As Osama said, people follow the strong horse. So take every opportunity to portray the leaders of ISIS and other terrorist groups as weak.
Who was the target audience for his talk about the Canine unit then (he calls them dogs, you know). Or that the troops didn't knock on the door politely? Just admit your leader is an inarticulate buffoon. It has the benefit of being the truth and save you a lot of time in futile arguments.

"(John Kelly) was totally unequipped to handle the genius of our great president,” Grisham said.

Cults of personality are scary stuff.

Trump Tweets

Something very big has just happened!

Belch or fart, you think?

Oh gawd! How bizarre to believe that you are better at everything than anyone else.

Reminds me of the NK leaders, with whom he has a love affair.

I know [referring to himself in the 3rd person] isn’t unusual for him. It just adds to the weirdness.

Yeah often it causes confusion and I have to read it again to make sure it's Trump talking and not someone else.

It's about time he was surrounded by a group of real people and not just his airhead followers.

In his world, this was clearly a conspiratory democratic mob, initiated and planted by the Sleepy-Shifty-Witch-Hunt-Group.

Baghdadi is dead. He deserves every insult we can come up with and more. Yeah, I'm happy about that. Why aren't you?
Because each gloat generates 10 more baghdadi wannabes and you have no idea who they are.

It was a bad look when some on the right got upset about Obama's victory lap over bin Laden. It's a bad look when some on the left are doing it with Trump.
Except Obama didn't engage in "Squeal like a pig" level rhetoric.

So thanks to Trumps behaviour, a new AQ/ISIS leader will emerge as always happened in the past. But this time, he/she will have a revenge agenda bolstered by Trumps triumphal crap. All because Trump could not STFU.

Trump is not destroying AQ/ISIS, he is actively perpetuating it.

Trump saying al-Baghdadi was "whimpering and crying and screaming all the way"
made my eyes roll 360 degrees around.

Geezus can you stop making **** up. So overdramatic.

And just saying it once is enough.

"He died after running into a dead-end tunnel, whimpering and crying and screaming all the way."
"The thug who tried so hard to intimidate others spent his last moments in utter fear, in total panic and dread, terrified of the American forces bearing down on him."
"Baghdadi was vicious and violent. And he died in a vicious and violent way, as a coward, running and crying."
"He died like a dog. He died like a coward."
"And what they've done with the internet through recruiting and everything -- and that's why he died like a dog, he died like a coward. He was whimpering, screaming and crying."
"He didn't die a hero. He died a coward: crying, whimpering, screaming and bringing three kids with him to die."
"But he was screaming, crying and whimpering. And he was scared out of his mind."
"He was an animal. And he was a gutless animal."

Don't you think that would've happened anyway?
This is way over my pay grade, so I listen to ret Admiral James Stavridis, former NATO commander, when he says there's a reason why US leaders have never used language like this before when bad guys get killed -- because it's highly counter-productive and only serves to motivate the enemy.

I'll take his word for it. I just as soon assumed that their established hatred would do the trick.

We know Trump said he knows better than generals, did he mention admirals? I'm not confident Trump knows what an admiral is. He may think it's a kind of bird.
