Canada Election: 2019

Which party do you support in the upcoming Canadian election?

You know, I can understand separatists voting for the Parti Quebecois provincially, because if they won, they'd actually have some power as the provincial government to press for changes that would benefit Quebec. But Federally? The BQ will never have any actual power, even if they "hold the balance of power" in a minority government situation. Exactly who, on the Federal level, would open themselves up to the charge of pandering to the separatists?
Don't be so sure.

There has been such an effort by many people to completely demonize the conservative party, to the point where I am sure at least some politicians would decide "We would rather form a coalition with a party that wants to destroy Canada than to have a party that wants to cut taxes some small amount!"

Just look at all the accusations of Conservatives having a "hidden agenda". (We've even seen it in this thread.) And consider all the people that will argue "The separatists won't win a 3rd referendum" and thus think the Bloc is harmless.

Free Quebec!

I don't suppose you know anything about the province in question, right?

Nothing to do with Hillary so another fail at Gaslighting, and you seem to be obsessed with following me around, Quebec needs to be free. Why do you oppose that?

I'm asking you a question. Do you or do you not know anything about the history of the province?

and you seem to be obsessed with following me around

Nice try. People can read the threads and see that I was posting well before you followed me to them. But keep it coming. Seeing you being humiliated over and over is sure to provide everyone with some nice, free entertainment.

Because there is no benefit to it. It would be tremendously costly and it wouldn't protect Quebec culture and language. The advances we've made in the last few decades have lardely resolved the issues of the 70s and prior.

Do you want a cracker?

Tibet to!

Well at least now you've got something.

For anyone who is seriously wondering, Québec was not conquered, but ceded by France. True, the English did occupy Québec for a time, although a small problem was that they were severely outnumbered. So French remained the language of use in the province.

However, come the 60s and 70s there was a growing resentment as all big businesses were owned and operated by english-speaking Canadians rather than Quebecers. That, and the status of Quebec in Canada, changed in the 80s and 90s, to the point where in my opinion Quebec is actually now a privileged province of Canada. There is literally no reason to separate from the rest of the country. It would harm us more than it would help. And with the US and Canada right next to us, it wouldn't help protect French as a language anyway.

I honestly think Quebec should be free from trudeau's evil occupation army.
In the last election, the Liberals managed to obtain 40 seats in Quebec, more than twice the number from any other party, and . Multiple Quebec MPs served as cabinet ministers, including Trudeau himself (who was the prime minister).

So how exactly can Quebec be subject to an 'occupation army' when they themselves are providing the soldiers?

I was in QC a month ago. No sign of any occupation army, or oppression, or people yearning to be free. Everybody seemed rather content.

I think our poster has a rather odd understanding of the province of Quebec.

You can't possibly think he's posting his actual thoughts, right?

Point of order: Quebec is already free.

And on a more serious note, looks like a Liberal minority. Honestly, I think that might have been the best outcome we could have hoped for.

Are we taking bets on Trudeau resigning to "spend more time with his family"?

I have no issues with a Liberal minority. Lib/NDP coalition is likely to work for a while.

I don’t think Trudeau will resign. It would be out of character for him and there is no obvious replacement.

Interesting that Cons are ahead in the popular vote.
