The Trump Presidency: Part 17

The first one was 2-1, with the two judges trashing the dissenting opinion of the third, a Trump appointee.

Rachel Maddow made the point that the dissent provided little comfort to Trump - it outlined that impeachment would be the correct path to said tax returns. Since a formal impeachment is becoming well nigh inevitable, the tax returns will not have protected status once they begin.

Trump said on TV

Are you ready? Saudi Arabia at my request has agreed to pay us for everything we are doing. That is a first. Saudi Arabia, and other countries soon now, but Saudi Arabia has agreed to pay us for everything we are doing to help them and we appreciate that.

American Forces are now just mercenaries?

Couldn't the Kurds afford the bill?

“Schiff aides worked with Whistleblower.” @foxandfriends @RepLeeZeldin
Schiff is a lying mess!

The case of Major Mathew Golsteyn is now under review at the White House. Mathew is a highly decorated Green Beret who is being tried for killing a Taliban bombmaker. We train our boys to be killing machines, then prosecute them when they kill! @PeteHegseth

The deal I just made with China is, by far, the greatest and biggest deal ever made for our Great Patriot Farmers in the history of our Country. In fact, there is a question as to whether or not this much product can be produced? Our farmers will figure it out. Thank you China!

...Other aspects of the deal are also great - technology, financial services, 16-20 Billion in Boeing Planes etc., but WOW, the Farmers really hit pay dirt!
@ChuckGrassley @joniernst @debfisher @BenSasse
Thank you to all Republicans in Congress for your invaluable help!

Louisiana, get out and vote REPUBLICAN before going to the big game today. A runoff will be a tremendous win for your Great State - lower taxes and car insurance, and better protection of your 2nd Amendment! Fantastic being with you last night!

Shepard Smith just quit Fox News.

Good for him. He doesn't belong there, though now Fox viewers will be in an even tighter bubble.

Right after a meeting between Barr and Rupert Murdoch.
FOx really is State News.

What the hell was Barr doing there?

They need to coordinate so that Fox knows what to tell Trump to say, and get some guidance from the White House when Trump forgets his lines and says stuff that is more exceptionally stupid than usual. (I.e., damage control.)

An article (WaPo most likely) pointed out that the dissenter said that it was unnecessary at this time to discuss whether the impeachment was valid, implying that the courts have some say over what counts as high crimes and misdemeanors. This is at odds with the prevailing view and would give the court a say in whether Congress sees the returns by potentially claiming the impeachment itself is unconstitutional because the allegations do not rise to the standard for impeachment.

So the dissent does not imply that the tax returns are fair game in an impeachment inquiry, but only in a legitimate impeachment inquiry.

And who decides what is a "legitimate" impeachment inquiry? Precedence says that is entirely up to the House of Representatives and NOT the courts.

So now they are after the legendary “crime buster” and greatest Mayor in the history of NYC, Rudy Giuliani. He may seem a little rough around the edges sometimes, but he is also a great guy and wonderful lawyer. Such a one sided Witch Hunt going on in USA. Deep State. Shameful!

As someone noted Giuliani could have cured AIDS, saved the Lindberg baby and personally killed Hitler, but that doesn't mean he gets a free pass to break the law later.

I honestly don't think Trump understand this concept.

Yes, because the House "shall have the sole Power of Impeachment." - The U.S. Consitution, Article 1, section 2. My emphasis.

We're about 8 days from "I never met him."

Perhaps he doesn't belong at the current fake news filled Fox News, but, quite frankly, it really should probably be remembered that he spouted lies pretty much every day. That he was overwhelmingly better than the "opinion" side of things isn't really an excuse.

In other news,

Rudy's Plumbers were busy Funding other GOP Entities, Besides Trump's

Various state Republican Parties benefited from their tainted and likely funneled money.

Wohl and Burkman are up to their moronic tricks again

This time, saying that they'll be introducing Pelosi and Schiff's drug dealer. Pelosi's response was pretty good -

MEDIA ALERT: They’ve found Mr. Ghirardelli, Ben and Jerry, and Grandmother See from See’s Candies! 🍫

And, of course, if there's someone publicly admitting to being a drug dealer, that's a fair amount of jail time.

Moving on - Another of the things happening in the background.

America's National Parks could be one week away from handing campgrounds over to private companies

And in a way that could be annoyingly difficult to undo, of course.

And did so for over 20 years, making a ton of money for it. Yeah, Shep can pretty much go **** himself as far as I'm concerned. It's not like Fox News became significantly different when President Obama left office.

So even the dissenting view was still bad news for Trump?
