The Trump Presidency: Part 17

Trump just had a string of losses in court:

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit upheld a lower court decision, ruling that Congress can see eight years of Trump’s business records held by his accounting firm, Mazars USA. The House Oversight Committee had subpoenaed the records after the president’s former lawyer Michael Cohen testified that Trump had exaggerated his wealth when applying for loans, which is a crime.

...

U.S. District Court Judge George Daniels of the Southern District of New York issued a preliminary nationwide injunction blocking a Trump administration rule set to take effect next week that would have made it easier to deny green cards and visas to immigrants who cannot show they will not require public assistance. After the administration announced the new rule, nearly a dozen states filed suit to block it.

...

U.S. District Court Judge David Briones, in the Western District of Texas, ruled that the declaration of a national emergency under which Trump diverted funds from other agencies to construct a Mexico border wall was unlawful.

Linky.

The first one was 2-1, with the two judges trashing the dissenting opinion of the third, a Trump appointee.

As Gingrich said it, we'll be seeing "whether or not the Kavanaugh fight was worth it".

CNN Politics:

Earlier on Friday, Trump wouldn't say whether Giuliani was still his personal attorney.
"Well, I don't know. I haven't spoken to Rudy. I spoke to him yesterday briefly. He's a very good attorney and he has been my attorney, yeah, sure," he said.

****, if push came to indictment, this piece of garbage would deny knowing Ivanka, though the creep would still want to bang her.

Agreed.
The one I am waiting for is “Donald Tump, Jr.? Nope. I’ve never met him. He worked around here for a bit but I had no contact with him. Very untrustworthy. Don’t believe anything he says.”

I was just watching Trumps latest rally clips on the news.

The geezer actually seems to have turned it into full on Tele Evangelism, like you see from the plastic religious ones.

Crowd adoration and all.

I know all presidents do the same to a certain degree with rallys, but (to me) it actually really stands out with him.

Needs more democrat voter in a wheel chair he heals, who then walks amazed to a pretend voting booth to vote for him.

(Sorry, feel free to ignore. Just found it interesting to watch)

That doesn't sound very wise given how easy it seems to pwn him completely.

That also doesn't sound very legal - the President unilaterally approving a trade deal.

Obama did the same thing with at least one deal, the Paris Climate Accord?? He knew he couldn't get it past the Senate so keep it below the "treaty" level so he could sign off on it for the USA.

I approved of Obama's action; I don't of Dump's. So sue me. :)

I have to say the Anti Trump Demonstrators in Minneapolis last night did not help the cause much. Throwing Urine in the streets and waving "Marx was right" signs is incredibly stupid and will give Donnie and the deplorables pleny of ammunition.

Great band name! :p

Sorry, but the old "they are all agent provacuteurs" routine does not play.
Just admit that your side has it's share of morons and distance yourself from them.
She did. Read the post more carefully.

Going further, there's always the question of what "side" is being referred to. The protestor's side is "anti-Trump." Democrats are certainly a diverse bunch, for example, but anti-Trump sentiment is hardly limited to Democrats. When we get to, say, Marx, well... Democrats, Communists, and, say, groups like Antifa do share common anti-Trump sentiments, but there's not much overlap in their memberships.

Trump just said that he does not know if Rudy is still his attorney.
Given what has happened when Donnie has said things like that about people in the past, it's not looking good for Rudy....
Do you have a source for that?

I like this one. Rudy, meet bus.

Though this isn't exactly new news. Trump's systematic purge of the DHS should absolutely be remembered, as well, on this topic. His administration's purges of scientists (or replacement of them with ones employed and paid by the industries that they should be informing about), even military ones, has been ridiculous, but not particularly surprising given the GOP's War on Science.

Seriously, the government purges are just one of the huge red flags, accompanied by blaring alarm sirens, of the Trump Administration and is one of the most crucial (and unsexy) problems that the Trump Administration is causing.

Good things are happening at China Trade Talk Meeting. Warmer feelings than in recent past, more like the Old Days. I will be meeting with the Vice Premier today. All would like to see something significant happen!

Speaking of the China Trade talks, wasn't one of Trump's main demands for China to change their policies on how intellectual property is handled? The kind of change that would fairly certainly mean that a bunch of the businesses actually pushing for that change would end up eliminating lots of American jobs and creating a lot of Chinese ones?

In other news...

ISIS has breached several prisons in northern Syria while U.S. flees bases bombed by Turks

Not pretty. **** the traitorous cur.

So funny to watch Steve Kerr grovel and pander when asked a simple question about China. He chocked, and looks weak and pathetic. Don’t want him at the White House!

“I never saw so many subpoenas!” @ShannonBream @FoxNews

I have a theory about why Trump is so prone to projection. In the legend, Narcissus didn't actually fall in love with himself: He fell in love with his reflection. Similarly, Trump is in love with an image that he tries to project, and he is only happy when he sees that image reflected in how people treat him. If, instead, their reaction is a real reflection of his faults, which he is well aware of, it sends him into a rage, and the only way he can protect his ego is to accuse others of the same faults.
