The Trump Presidency 15

I found out that a great way to get blocked by Trumpists on twitter is to point out that no one wants to live in any or the red areas of America which is why their property values are crap compared to the "liberal hellholes" they routinely list in their attempts to back up his racist Baltimore bashing.

"Yeah, who wants to live in Seattle or San Francisco when they can enjoy Parkersburg, West Virginia!"

Wow. You're winning, man. You're really winning.

The sad thing is that I don't think she even is a neo-Nazi. She makes her living by generating controversy, so she spends all her time saying things that are as controversial as possible, whether she believes them or not.

The most infamous time she was caught out was when she was on telly defending a rant she'd gone on about how she doesn't allow her children to associate with other children whose names she doesn't like because they imply that those children are of a lower class and therefore will be bad influences. One of the categories of names she mentioned was of children named after geographical locations, followed immediately by the host pointing out that one of her children is called India.

It's all a show.

Which isn't to say that she isn't really horribly racist and classist, but I honestly wouldn't trust anything she says to be her genuinely-held view.
Not just a publicity-whore, a publicity-addict.

I am pleased to announce that highly respected Congressman John Ratcliffe of Texas will be nominated by me to be the Director of National Intelligence. A former U.S. Attorney, John will lead and inspire greatness for the Country he loves. Dan Coats, the current Director, will....

....be leaving office on August 15th. I would like to thank Dan for his great service to our Country. The Acting Director will be named shortly

Looks like Coats couldn't take Trump's idiocy any more. Or...Trump couldn't take Coats not brown nosing him enough.

As for Ratcliffe:

In Heritage Action's final scorecard for the 114th Congress, Ratcliffe was ranked as the most conservative Texas legislator in Congress and second most conservative legislator in the country.

Oh, goodie. Just what we need; another Trump sycophant.

There is nothing racist in stating plainly what most people already know, that Elijah Cummings has done a terrible job for the people of his district, and of Baltimore itself. Dems always play the race card when they are unable to win with facts. Shame!...

This editorial addressed this issue quite well:

The Baltimore Sun: Better to have a few rats than to be one.
In pointing to the 7th, the president wasn’t hoping his supporters would recognize landmarks like Johns Hopkins Hospital, perhaps the nation’s leading medical center. He wasn’t conjuring images of the U.S. Social Security Administration, where they write the checks that so many retired and disabled Americans depend upon. It wasn’t about the beauty of the Inner Harbor or the proud history of Fort McHenry. And it surely wasn’t about the economic standing of a district where the median income is actually above the national average. No, he was returning to an old standby of attacking an African American lawmaker from a majority black district on the most emotional and bigoted of arguments. It was only surprising that there wasn’t room for a few classic phrases like “you people” or “welfare queens” or “crime-ridden ghettos” or a suggestion that the congressman “go back” to where he came from....

... that “Fox & Friends” had recently aired a segment critical of the city, slamming Baltimore must have been irresistible in a Pavlovian way...

And:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young, we would above all remind Mr. Trump that the 7th District, Baltimore included, is part of the United States that he is supposedly governing....

If there are problems here, rodents included, they are as much his responsibility as anyone’s, perhaps more because he holds the most powerful office in the land....

Finally, while we would not sink to name-calling in the Trumpian manner — or ruefully point out that he failed to spell the congressman’s name correctly (it’s Cummings, not Cumming) — we would tell the most dishonest man to ever occupy the Oval Office, the mocker of war heroes, the gleeful grabber of women’s private parts, the serial bankrupter of businesses, the useful idiot of Vladimir Putin and the guy who insisted there are “good people” among murderous neo-Nazis that he’s still not fooling most Americans into believing he’s even slightly competent in his current post. Or that he possesses a scintilla of integrity. Better to have some vermin living in your neighborhood than to be one.

My God, that’s some elitist rubbish.

Folks in “red” areas are not uniformly this or that. And I say that based in N GA and E TN. People DO want to live here - they are quite able to relocate to Boston or Portland or San Francisco or wherever, and have zero desire to do so.

You have a very warped view of America. And I’m not a “Trumpist”.

Perhaps there is some utility in hoisting on their own petard those who evince ignorance by espousing such generalizations themselves. If an elicited reaction is a shutting out, then perhaps the sting might engender some reflection.

Man, I've almost been having fun with these fools.

Wow. You're winning, man. You're really winning.

Here's the thing, though: They're the ones jumping up and down and screaming about how horrible Cummings' District is, how it's all "the blacks" on "Welfare", blah blah blah. As much ass Mulvaney decided to try to look down his nose on us (and Chicago, and anywhere else he perceived as "black") to show that Dolt 45 wasn't being racist, the district that he represented before deciding to wallow in corruption is...considerably worse, in my opinion.

And for all of their yelling about how I "would never visit that district at night!!!", um, I have. Hundreds of times since I moved here, most likely. Watched movies, had dinners, visited friends, had a beer or two back when I was still drinking - right at Ellicott Mills Brewing. Same street I used to go to buy retro video games and play KOF on their Neo-Geo cabinet - until the river overflowed and flooded that store out. Same street Rep. Cummings has an office on, too - not to say I've met him, since I haven't.

I wonder if it's acceptably to fly a drone over there. I should check...

But in any case, these redhats just can't be cool. They just need to feel that they're better than every black person in America, if not the world. And while I live well now, I did grow up in the crack era in Roxbury, Massachusetts, so if they want to clap, I'll clap right back. And I approve of Travis mocking them, too.

Funny, but if you follow the Twitter discussions that Travis is alluding to and the comment pages on any major new site, it seems those folks in red areas think that folks in big cities are a monolithic entity who all gleefully play their straw man role in the Great Liberal Plantation System, not being able to think for themselves, and relying on the hard work of the American Heartland to get by!

What is what Travis is doing any worse than what Trump does? It's called "turnabout is fair play". Y'all make fun of my big city attitudes and I'll make fun of yours.

Oh, and why do the statistics not bear out your idea that all the folks in Ruraltania are happy there and wouldn't move to a big city if their lives depended on it. Seems that whole legions of them have been migrating to bigger cities for about four generations, now.

No, you're not a Trumpista, but you're a conservative and some of those myths die hard. The irony is that those "OMG I'm being ignored because I'm rural or in "a flyover state"" people happily ignore that the majority of the country lives in cities and disagrees with most of their self-serving politics.

That's what I said about Barr, and look how he turned out.

Totally unacceptable? Yup. We can safely expect Coats' replacement to be a lickspittle who acts without integrity or honor to undermine national security in support of legitimizing Trump's insane attempts to upend reality.

Rather than a no-nonsense intelligence overseer in the Coats model, the hard-hard-right Ratcliffe has been an animated conspiracy theorist who has repeatedly and aggressively worked to promote Trump's own theory that the Russian investigation was undertaken as a Democratic effort to undermine Trump rather than a legitimate investigation into an attack by a foreign adversary.

On Sunday, he again alleged on Fox News that there were "crimes committed" by members of the Obama administration in an effort by Democrats to "reverse engineer" allegations against Trump.

And that's completely horrible... but just one more horror to the already huge pile of horrors. I expect that, if put into the position, we can assume that the limited measures to counter the Russian attacks that have been put into place will simply be ended. Republicans, doing their best to make America a third-world oligarchy.

Well... at least we're apparently up to a plurality of people that want Trump impeached in a Fox News poll. 47% in favor of impeachment to 45% opposed.

Re the Director of National Intelligence post, from just before the announcement: https://twitter.com/NatashaBertrand/status/1155534597645590528

I’m told Nunes was offered the job but turned it down & would want an intel job, like CIA Director, post 2020 if Trump is re elected.

Per Axios Ratcliffe is now the front runner, though there’s been some concern that he’s too inexperienced to be confirmed.

It's virtue signaling. House Republicans knew the deal would pass,
so some of them could peel off and pretend to oppose the spending.

Well, damn.

I always get fooled by virtue signaling.

A couple of Rand Paul Libertarians who are still looking at the deficit. I wonder
if they voted for the tax cuts? Everything else they claim they want it traded
for something else in the budget. That was Rand Paul's reason for denying
the 911 health relief fund.

Wait a minute.

The Republican Party has factions, right. So maybe ten percent lean
Libertarian, so maybe you could get them to join the Justice Democrats
– philosophically similar enough. And attract business conservatives in the
Republican Party with the fact that democrats don't like tariffs or unbalanced
budgets or all the crazy that disrupts their business – maybe shrink the Trump
votes by another one percent.

Hm. Still not enough.

Have Tom Perez and the Democratic National Committee hold a news
conference and announce that they have spent the last five months
building the infrastructure to register one million new voters each month
starting in August and ending a year later. Yeah, I think that will work.

What is what Travis is doing any worse than what Trump does?

Is “What Trump does?” our new standard? And tu quoque is a thing.

...your idea that all the folks in Ruraltania are happy there and wouldn't move to a big city if their lives depended on it....

Straw man much?

I understand there’s a lot of liberal bias here, and many liberal arguments have won me over. But to state that no one wants to live in any of the red areas of America seems the mirror image of Trump saying no one can live in Baltimore. Painting cartoonish stereotypes does nothing to help unite the country or promote dialog.

I have known Al for 25 years. Went to fights with him & Don King, always got along well. He “loved Trump!” He would ask me for favors often. Al is a con man, a troublemaker, always looking for a score. Just doing his thing. Must have intimidated Comcast/NBC. Hates Whites & Cops!

Al Sharpton would always ask me to go to his events. He would say, “it’s a personal favor to me.” Seldom, but sometimes, I would go. It was fine. He came to my office in T.T. during the presidential campaign to apologize for the way he was talking about me. Just a conman at work!

Baltimore, under the leadership of Elijah Cummings, has the worst Crime Statistics in the Nation. 25 years of all talk, no action! So tired of listening to the same old Bull...Next, Reverend Al will show up to complain & protest. Nothing will get done for the people in need. Sad!

If the Democrats are going to defend the Radical Left “Squad” and King Elijah’s Baltimore Fail, it will be a long road to 2020. The good news for the Dems is that they have the Fake News Media in their pocket!

I think we have a new high water mark for hypocrisy. "The pot calling the kettle black" can be replaced with, "Trump calling Sharpton a conman."

Someone please explain to Nancy Pelosi, who was recently called racist by those in her own party, that there is nothing wrong with bringing out the very obvious fact that Congressman Elijah Cummings has done a very poor job for his district and the City of Baltimore. Just take...

....a look, the facts speak far louder than words! The Democrats always play the Race Card, when in fact they have done so little for our Nation’s great African American people. Now, lowest unemployment in U.S. history, and only getting better. Elijah Cummings has failed badly!

Speaking of failing badly, has anyone seen what is happening to Nancy Pelosi’s district in San Francisco. It is not even recognizeable lately. Something must be done before it is too late. The Dems should stop wasting time on the Witch Hunt Hoax and start focusing on our Country!

Sometimes, Trump sounds like a preacher; repeating the same passages of dogma over and over until that's all the faithful know.

Yeah, that's why people should avoid social media discussions.
