"SEND HER BACK!" Will they defend this?

I think the reason for Trump's election was, in large part, due to the SCOTUS vacancy and the other vacancies that were likely to eventuate.

The Christian Right in America would have voted for Trump if he had been a Satanist rather than allow the Democrats to appoint those positions.

You only need to look at the population of evangelicals in the swing states compared to the margins to see that this is quite plausible.
Evangelicals are swing voters?

To make the government work we need the republican base

Do we though? I mean, there are presently 12 million more registered Democrats than Republicans. On most issues, Democrats win a plurality. Even on the jobs issue, that can easily flip around.

The problem is, most of the Democratic voters seemed to be concentrated in high population areas. Thanks to things like gerrymandering, voter suppression, and the Electoral College, this gives the low population red areas a disproportionate amount of power.

This gives the Dems 2 main objectives:

1) get their more popular message to undecided voters or "independent" voters.

2) Either get around or eliminate the geographic issue.

Yes. Guilty as charged. I'm criticizing the Democrats for not being able to deal with the Republicans without having a fully realized plan of my own.

If I hire a plumber to fix a leaky toilet and he comes out and can't fix the toilet, I'm gonna fire him and get a new plumber without knowing how to fix the toilet myself as well.

the current situation in the US seems to more akin to what happens if you are overseeing the renovations to your house, there are two plumbers hired to for the renovations, both of them hate each other and but one contractor keeps interfering with the other's work so nothing is getting accomplished while the general contractor is busy telling you how great he is, and if that guy who can't fix the toilet would just go away everything would be so great, you won't believe how great it is because his preferred subcontractor would be able to replace everything the other guy did with stuff he purchased from the local building supply store that gives the general contractor kickbacks.

I'm all for it. She's an antisemitic follower of a religion that worships a savage pedophile. Throw in her immigration and tax fraud and she's an excellent candidate for deportation.

Quora called - they are looking for you.

But the toilet is in a burning house, and the arsonist is still at large.

I see it more like two plumbers and one's trying to fix your leak and maybe overcharge you a little while the other is ******* your teenage daughter, kicking your cat, nicking your jewellery, pissing on the floor and blaming it all on anyone but themselves while insisting that they're the greatest plumber ever and holding a gas axe by the wrong end.

Who will Democrats blame next time when they lose in 2020?

"Who will you blame the next time I win the hand?" says the guy with 2 aces up his sleeve who is currently going through the deck picking out the cards he wants and has already decided he's going to steal the pot regardless of who wins the hand.

How many months before the three-word chant is "Kill them all!"?

Probably not anytime soon. Within the past few years, white supremacists/the alt right/whatever you want to call that general group have been moving away from explicit talk of violence, at least in public. Probably most notably, Richard Spencer has always consistently denied that he wants genocide or any kind of violence; instead, he advocates for "peaceful ethnic cleansing" to create ethnostates. What that means is basically kicking all the non-whites out. As far as I've seen, that kind of language is now the norm for public discussions about that kind of thing, and it's a deliberate move to seem more respectable and appealing to the masses. That's what, to me, is especially worrying about that chant - it's a crowd of 'normal" people chanting something white nationalists have been trying to make part of the public discourse for years. If it becomes common enough, there probably won't even be a need to escalate to something more violent, because people like Spencer will have already succeeded.

For what its worth, I listen to a number of right wing podcasts. So far they are condemning the change and Trumps response to it. Ben Shapiro spent something link 20 minutes condemning it.

A few Republicans have spoken out against the chants, albeit bookended with bog standard snipes against the Democrats/Lefts/Made Up Socialist and many of them are so backhanded as to sort of step on their own points, but I'll take what I can get at this point.

I'm a "When you honestly believe something you can make the point without qualifiers" kind of person, but at least the words are being mouthed on some level.

That's always been my solution as well.

I don't see a peaceful solution to this crisis.
Call it the Second Civil War, call it the Second Amereican Revolution, I think a level of vioilence not seen since the 1860's looks to be almost inevitable.
MY nightmare is it becomes like Spain during it's Civil War; a contest between totaltarians of the right and totalarians of the left. By 1938, it was pretty much a choice between Hitler Wannabes and Stalin Wannabes.

Now that The PDJT has (sort of) said the chant was not a good thing, we'll hear from GOP members -- "Oh, I thought it was bad all the time!"

He claims he started speaking again quickly -- he most certainly did not. I can allow for the first several seconds as he might not have been able to discern what they were actually yelling. But he did wait for it to die down and didn't start speaking for several seconds after that.
