The Trump Presidency 15

I thought about this previously. Should this question be forced onto the form, what would stop someone answering that question with a highly generic non-controversial answer, like "American" or "Planet Earth". Then again, why not go totally fictional, like "Martian", "Pandoran" or "Westeros". Or simply just don't answer it.

that would be illegal - and can get you fined ... in theory.

And another thing.

He should have said aerodrome instead of airport. They were not called airports until around WW I.

A truly great, patriotic & charitable man, Bernie Marcus, the co-founder of Home Depot who, at the age of 90, is coming under attack by the Radical Left Democrats with one of their often used weapons. They don’t want people to shop at those GREAT stores because he contributed....

....to your favorite President, me! These people are vicious and totally crazed, but remember, there are far more great people (“Deplorables”) in this country, than bad. Do to them what they do to you. Fight for Bernie Marcus and Home Depot!

More and more the Radical Left is using Commerce to hurt their “Enemy.” They put out the name of a store, brand or company, and ask their so-called followers not to do business there. They don’t care who gets hurt, but also don’t understand that two can play that game!

So now the Obama appointed judge on the Census case (Are you a Citizen of the United States?) won’t let the Justice Department use the lawyers that it wants to use. Could this be a first?

Didn’t Trump just boycott the UK ambassador yesterday? Moron.

They should have picked willing lawyers in the first place. Apparently they don’t want to continue so Barr wants to use others who are more ready to ruin their careers over this. Judge says nope. Donny gets the pouts.

Hey even slaves counted for 3/5, so what percentage should immigrants get?

Congratulations. You managed to make a strawman that's even completely unrelated to what I said in any way.

Take it up with the founders and their BS all men are created equal crap when it should clearly differentiate citizens vs not citizens.

The 3/5th thing is more of a point-scoring tool for you, and I doubt you understand its real significance.

If non-citizens and citizens are treated exactly the same, what does "being a Citizen" even mean at that point?

We can treat non-citizens within our country with respect, dignity, and humanity without treating them exactly the same as citizens.

"A country has responsibility to its citizens first and foremost" is practically a truism as I see it.

Why is that more a truism than 'A country has responsibility to the people who live there'?
I can see the point of having a requirement that you have lived somewhere for a few years before being allowed to vote, just to exclude people with no dog in the fight, however I'm also in favour of losing that right quickly if you leave a country. Otherwise I don't see why you'd discriminate.

There doesn’t seem much belief in that statement in many countries. Call them illegals and you can strip such obligation.

Out of curiosity only...

Why is it illegal to answer like that? Do they plan to have all 260-odd countries of the world listed and you get to pick just one? What about dual-citizenship?

Interesting.

1) As I said, my ex-wife would write in “human” under race, since none of the listed options seemed to apply. If charged with a crime - highly unlikely - it seems easily defensible.

2) Could not one refuse to answer, giving Fifth Amendment protections against self-incrimination as justification for said refusal?

If you don't answer the question, you don't get counted because your census was returned "incomplete."

Wasn't this the concern when a bunch of people started putting "Jedi" under religion, that there was a risk that the answers would just declared invalid and skew the numbers in the exact opposite way?

there is some confusion about this, and Trumpists typically do not understand visa issues. They are all "foreigners" to them, even after they get citizenship!

Legal residents have all the rights of citizens. They lose only on
-not voting
-no jury duty
-they are not exempt from inheritance tax up to several million
Melania saves a bundle if Trump dies by being a citizen

The others, tourists and visitors, have fewer rights. In the case of criminal charges, they can be deported rather than go to court. If a permanent resident commits felony, he is also in jeopardy, losing the visa.

I was disappointed to find out the British ambassador has resigned.

I guess I was hoping the Brits would take a principled stand on this, since nothing in his reports were demonstrably untrue.

But perhaps moving on is the best thing as a practical matter.
