The Trump Presidency 15

Absolutely....which is why I stated censuses are not "released to the public" for 72 years and when the next 2 censuses will be "publicly" released. It can be very frustrating to genealogy researchers.

But those who are concerned about the use of the census data are not worried about what the public will do, they are concerned about what the government will do with it. For example, use it to round up illegals and deport them.

So your comment, while absolutely true, is not all that relevant to the issue of intimidation.

After a wonderful dinner at the @USTreasury last night with the Amir of Qatar, @TamimBinHamad, it was my great honor to welcome him to the @WhiteHouse this afternoon!

Nor was it meant to be relevant to that. I was responding to the part of the statement that I highlighted:

No, it is absolutely NOT anonymous. That's why I can look at publicly released census data and see who my ancestors were and where they came from.

I was intending only to give more information on when censuses are publicly released. Unless someone is into genealogy, most people don't know there is a 72 year release wait period.

Completely off-topic: When the 1930 census was released, my mother went and looked herself up, as it was the first one she'd have been in. When she saw the name of the census taker, she burst out laughing. It was the town drunk.

More and more I think this is not going to end without domestic violence on a scale we have not seen since the 1860's;it will make the violence in the 1960's look like a minor schoolyard scuffle.

Meh, I don't think so. I think the Trumpers talk a big talk, but when it comes down to it they'll pack their **** up and go home, grumbling.

The majority of Trump's base, I would guess, are older white people. They aren't exactly the group of people that are going to burn the city down. Half of them are in bed by 6.

While I worry about it, I think the plague is right.

Democrats are coming after our great Kentucky Senator, Mitch McConnell, with someone who compared my election to September 11th....

....Why would Kentucky ever think of giving up the most powerful position in Congress, the Senate Majority Leader, for a freshman Senator with little power in what will hopefully be the minority party. We need Mitch in the Senate to Keep America Great!!

Just a reminder, if Trump can ignore Congress and write an Exe Order to change the questions on the census, it's obvious he can also make the confidentiality selective; promised secrecy, expected tradition or not.

Recent “strained” decisions by the United States Supreme Court, some so simple as allowing the question, “Are you a citizen of the United States” on our very expensive Census Report, or the even more strained decisions (2) allowing the world’s most expensive & pathetic......

....healthcare (Obamacare) to stay in place, when it would have been replaced by something far better, shows how incredibly important our upcoming 2020 Election is. I have long heard that the appointment of Supreme Court Justices is a President’s most important decision. SO TRUE!

There goes the idiot again, saying the quiet parts out loud. To the GOP, getting those partisan SC (and other) judges installed is crucial to their keeping a stranglehold on power in spite of their Party's minority status. They don't normally blare it out in such stark terms for all to see.

Now, I just called the fat yam an idiot for doing this, but of course there's method to the madness. He must remind the deplorables, in case they should waver in the slightest, that those judges are what will be required to keep their 'religious freedom' intact and their mighty whiteness dominant.

I can't believe these idiots are still pretending they have a better plan. McConnell was just on the news saying they'd immediately pass a bill requiring preexisting conditions be covered. Hellooo, how is that going to be paid for if you don't require everyone to carry insurance?

And I can't believe the ignorance it takes not to notice that and to remember the GOP doesn't have a bloody replacement plan!!!

BTW, I saw something the other day about how the census is mentioned in Article 1 of the constitution, as a responsibility of congress, and not in Article 2, which describes the president.

In other words, what question is on the census should be up to congress, not the president.
Making it high time we dump the office of president and instead have a king. A berder king.

He knows full well if Mitch is dumped and a Dem gets the position, he is toast. And I'm sure the Turtle has been reminding him of this several times a day - "If I go down, Donnie, you go down with me... Don't **** this up."

Yup.

What about children between ages 18 and 26?

And the medicare perscription drug loophole, set to close next year?

And rescission based on spurious reasoning?

And lifetime caps? Are those coming back?

Oh, and the medicaid expansion? Just gonna kick a bunch of people off that and wander around for a bit?

Ah, and weren't widows of miners that died of black lung disease covered as well?

Last time the legislators tried to hammer this stuff out, Dolt 45 pretty much sat there for a while and then wandered off like Buster Bluthe, so he obviously can't have a clue about what's happening, and likely not the slightest concern about much of anything further than "Well, if that darkie did it, I can do it much better, I'm white and blessed with my family's supergenius genetics!"

There's actually no particular reason to think that they wouldn't try to deport legal immigrants and refugees, or at least those of the "wrong" race (which is also part of the form - although in some parts of the country it's popular to fill in "American", it'd be odd to do this and then say that you aren't a citizen).

I thought about this previously. Should this question be forced onto the form, what would stop someone answering that question with a highly generic non-controversial answer, like "American" or "Planet Earth". Then again, why not go totally fictional, like "Martian", "Pandoran" or "Westeros". Or simply just don't answer it.
