Chineses don't count because they aren't too brown and are model minorities...........or until we get rid of the browner people first.
That would be a do-over. Our first immigration acts were draconian effects to eliminate virtually all Chinese immigration specifically, and try and get rid of all the Chinese immigrants who were already here.
The Page Act of 1875 basically prohibited Chinese women from immigrating to the U.S.
The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 essentially prohibited all Chinese from immigrating to the U.S. and went even further by making it illegal for Chinese nationals to become naturalized U.S. citizens, a ban which continued until the 1940s.
Other Asians were picked up by later legislation, culminating in the Asian Exclusion Act.
