Yang's got a bunch? So... Warren's definitely not the "only" candidate to do so. Warren's leading the field in a lot of good ways, of course. I generally favor Warren still, though, in fair part because it sure looks like she's been quite consistent about opposing corruption and undue outside influence at all levels, and that's one of the things that I definitely want to happen more. That's one of the fundamental problems that's aiding and abetting a whole lot of the rest of the problems and has been interfering with actually properly dealing with them. Fixing symptoms is great, but dealing with the underlying causes is more important for the long run.

I don't know enough about Yang yet. I have barely heard of him. Frankly, I'm hardly paying attention as of yet.

Do you honestly believe that none of the Dem candidates are bought and paid for by deep-pocketed donors?

That none of them are corporatist puppets who does not give a single **** about the average USAian?

That none of them are "progressive" only on paper?

Are you really this naive?

I don't know that any of them are. You called them all trash. I assume that they have some deep pocketed donors. That doesn't mean that has to be something nefarious. And what the hell do you mean by corporatist?

I have no problem with politicians talking and listening to businesses about their needs. I expect and want them to do that.

:i:

Except it's entirely provable. You can replicate the exact behaviour and see if it attracts any attention from law enforcement.
Well, it really wouldn't do that. But the more simple & obvious assault you'd have a decent chance of drawing might. And if the target were a co-worker or client, you'd definitely get fired or put one more twitch away from a firing.

One point in Bernie's favour is that young people will vote for an older bloke - that useless twat in the UK, Jeremy Corbyn, won the Labour leadership entirely on the back of the youth vote.
Ya, the whole "unelectable because people won't vote for oldies" thing has always been just an accusation of how someone else somewhere out there will vote, not something that shows any sign of materializing in how people actually do vote.

Why are there no prominent young Dems? There seems to be a huge gap between the likes of AOC (attacks on whom are truly sickening, by the way) and the old, old guard of Pelosi & Schermer.
They've been working hard biasing the system in their own favor against challengers with too much support from the people, as they still are with things like the DCCC's latest stunt to try to monopolize the polling & consulting contractors. The new wave of beginners is the backlash, and it has them panicked so much they're acting more hostile to them than to the Republicans.

I generally favor Warren still, though, in fair part because it sure looks like she's been quite consistent about opposing corruption and undue outside influence at all levels
She's become the single biggest source of remaining Democrat resistance to universal health care. Is there any serious possible reason for a Democrat to take that position other than being corrupted by the same kind of big-money corruption she otherwise claims to be against?

Truancy is a thing we are supposed to be in favor of now? That seems counterproductive in a great number of ways.

Did you actually read the article?

Nobody's suggesting giving up on truancy, but arresting parents isn't the answer, especially in a case like the one highlighted. Harris is responsible for setting a very bad piece of legislation that gave the cops another reason to arrest people.

Being cops, of course they're going to take it. Arrests beget money and more cops, who need more laws to arrest people for breaking. Supporting that is socially irresponsible.

Care to name the one or more you have in mind?

I'm not saying no influence, all of them are forced by the cost of running to have corporate sponsors. But you are describing the average GOP legislators not the average Democratic one.

Though that's also not to say there haven't been any in the past. Even Obama was disappointing in certain areas.

And BTW, Bernie is not so pure himself.

90%? Maybe you mean 90% of the substantive posts?

I don't find them substantive in any way.

Biden kissed a woman on the top of her head.
A child backed away from him.
Mayor Pete's father once made some positive remarks about communism. Elizabeth Warren said she has some native American blood.
Beto's family has money.

These are not remotely substantive to our daily lives.

The solution was the problem, Travis, not the need to address truancy. That article wasn't too flattering, makes me at least re-think Harris. Though I'm very cautious given the GOP's tactic of trashing candidates by sound bites.

We keep hearing that the #1 issue as far as Democratic voters are concerned is whether the candidate is electable. But you apparently don't want to hear any reasons why one candidate or the other might not be electable.

And who doesn't have flaws or mistakes in their past? Who isn't sometimes creepy or weird or offensive?

Compare and contrast to Trump's list of failings.

I know. It's like the difference between someone who occasionally drives over the speed limit and a serial killer.

Isn't that what Democrats were telling themselves on election day 2016? That Hillary might be flawed but she wasn't Trump?
