Yes, if they were in fact trafficked, and not just doing a crappy job in exchange for getting to the U.S. Paradoxically, most of the problems associated with prostitution in the U.S. are the result of it being illegal. A woman who needs help is committing a crime herself. In countries (and even Nevada counties) where prostitution is legal, the business is licensed and regulated, the cops know who's doing what, and a hooker is free to go to the police like any other businessperson and ask for assistance.

As the articles linked in the OP stated, this was a human trafficking sting operation. Mr. Kraft, of all people, could have easily directed his private plane to Nevada, Germany or Guadalajara, but he didn't.

One thing that gives me pause in the story is the categorical denial of "doing anything illegal" from Kraft's lawyers.

I wouldn't expect billionaires' lawyers to advise counterproductive denials when the cops have video tape. "We've seen no evidence [yet]..." or "We'll respond to the charges in due course..." would be more typical. (Of course, if their client insists on denying it anyhow they have to go with that, "Mr. Kraft denies...", but I'd think most billionaires are used to taking their lawyers' advice most of the time.) So, is there something else to the story? Might the police have been too excited by catching a big fish to carefully assess what actually happened on the table? For instance, if Kraft solicited a spanking (as in, hand, buttocks, that kind), or for the girl to strip while he did himself, would that be illegal? Lord knows a lot of people from Massachusetts have unconventional tastes, and the guy's 77 after all.

Look, the legal pananlites, from what we know, for Kraft are going to be slight(unless it comes out that coercion was used). But Kraft is in the entertainment business, and in the entertainment business you live or die by your public image,and his squeaky clean image took a hit...a big one.

Yeah but this is sports. Joe Paterno is still practically demigod in Pennsylvania despite covering up mass child rape. Mike Tyson had some of his biggest fights after being convicted of rape.
