Yeah, Americans refuse to fake beat up people in staged hate crimes.

Instead they drive cars at high speeds into gay couples (because the couple is gay).

They get together with a couple of friends to stab a trans teen to death, or they train a bit and do it solo to a gay Jewish college student.

They good old fashioned just straight up shoot them. A lot.

Americas will find a gay teen, strip them naked, beat them, steal their clothing and other possessions, record a video of it, and post it to Facebook.

When people are upset at Smollett for his fake attack downplaying the very real damage done in many, many real attacks, they are not saying they accept the excuse that Smollett's fake is a valid reason to dismiss the others.

(And yes, I get that you're 'joking', but some definitely think it is one of those 'joking on the square' situations when it absolutely is not.)

That’s why we were only shown a grainy still of their backs, followed by their request for his phone. I have Patsy Cline singing Walking After Midnight as an earworm right now...

...The sources say there were red flags from the get-go. Cops were extremely suspicious when Jussie took them out to the area where he said he was attacked and pointed to an obscure camera saying how happy he was that the attack was on video. Turns out the camera was pointing in the wrong direction. Cops thought it was weird he knew the location of that camera...

If the cops had video, that would be a smart tactic. But it's not implausible that they don't.

I have to kind of doubt it. After all, Smollett had a busted lip, his jacket really did have bleach on it, and there really was a cord around his neck. If they had video, it would show the "perpetrators" doing these things to him, which would alleviate suspicion of his account rather than compound it.
 
The thing I now have a renewed interest in is the manager/agent or whatever he allegedly spoke to on the phone during the attack. I wonder if they were lying, or duped. If lying, could they be held responsible for anything (and therefore charged as well)? Did they ever make "official" statements to investigators or just to the press (and does this necessarily matter?)

Who is the intended recipient of your inoculation, though? I doubt anyone here thinks I was joking on the square. I think it's a safe bet that our UKian, Norse, and Kiwi members take it for granted that racism and hate in America are even worse than the Smollett attack suggested. The debunking of that attack probably won't change their minds about that at all. My joke won't fool any of them into thinking perhaps it's not as bad as they were led to believe.

Hell, even if it were true that progressive demand for hate crimes exceeded the supply, I doubt most folks here would believe it. Look at the wailing and gnashing of teeth we were subjected to in this thread, from people offended that anyone would dare to point out the obvious flaws in Smollett's story. Look at the accusations of racism leveled at those who didn't reflexively take the thing at face value.

Even now, you're trying to divert attention away from this ridiculous incident, replying to well-earned ridicule with this whatabout the real racism stuff. If you don't like the jokes in this thread, go start another While Black thread, or take another stab at selling the Massive Wave.

Saw the location earlier, was a wall mounted globe about 12 feet above street level. Right in the middle of a field of concrete, very visible
