I take back any claim that Trump was not owned yesterday. His supporters were not owned and think he did great. Reports are Trump was quite upset afterwards.
To put a fine point on it, coming out of that meeting we now have the looming Trump shutdown.

His supporters cult members are pre-owned anyway, by definition, due to being the suckers/dimwits of all time, bearing in mind that legendary suckers of the past didn't have information at their fingertips. Owning a Trump cultist is akin to owning a geranium. It's not satisfying due to the geranium's lack of awareness.

ABC news did an article checking trump's claims about the drops in illegal

************

trump: ".(snip)... illegal traffic dropped 92 percent once the wall was up. El Paso, illegal traffic dropped 72 percent then ultimately 95 percent once the wall was up. In Tucson, Arizona, illegal traffic dropped 92 percent. Yuma, it dropped illegal traffic 95 to 96 percent...(snip)."

According to DHS, the “wall” in San Diego was built in 1992, and, the agency spokesperson told ABC News, “Illegal traffic has dropped 92 percent over the past 23 years.”

DHS tells ABC News, El Paso border security was built in 1993 and afterward illegal traffic “dropped 72 percent in one year and 95 percent over 22 years.”

DHS officials said that the Tucson structure was built in 2000 and Yuma construction started in 2005. DHS officials said that illegal traffic has dropped in Tucson by 90 percent in the past 15 years, and by 95 percent in nine years.

As gross a misrepresentation of the truth as this is - appearing to claim credit for something he had nothing to do with and omitting the time frame for the percentages quoted - this strikes me more as a prepared, deliberate, structured lie, with a planned back-up 'what i said was (technically) true', atypical of trump's usual outright falsehood. The kind of thing you'd expect from an oily Stephen Miller-type.

What can anyone expect of trumpf? Lying liars lie.

Anyone catch his stupid comment on perhaps being able to wade into the fray and get the Huawei heiress freed up..... if he thought there was something in it for the US. He mentioned security, nebulously, but also mentioned.... "or trade concessions".
Appalling. The concept of impartial judicial process is clearly alien to Trump.

Seizing foreign nationals in order to extort their nations's government. Why does this seem so familiar? It's right on the tip of my tongue. Something to do with airplanes, passengers, and people in prison, I think.

Isn't it precious? By extension, of course, it will now also be the Republican shutdown, so one can only imagine with what horror senior Republicans watched this unusual event unfold (and unravel).

Leave our seaport out of this.

Tuscon is the border patrol sector, not where the border actually is. Not sure Trump knows that.

If they do build it in Tuscon it will make maintenance easier. Lots of room on the other side for maintenance. personally I'd like them to build it on Mt. Lemmon. That way everybody can see it from the distance.

What the hell does one have to do with the other?

Surely, you realize that most Islamic terrorists in the U.S. enter by going to Honduras, traveling with a caravan to Northern Mexico and sneaking across the border in a rural area.

And here's the other thing... walls don't work. The Great Wall of China didn't keep the Huns out, the Berlin Wall didn't stop literally thousands of defections,

Let us hit the "I believe button" here. There is a bunch of bad people heading our way from the South. There isn't but let's say there is.

A wall's not gonna stop them. So still don't build the wall.

Argue for more money for border control. Step up patrols and training. At least that would be pointless but make sense within its own pointlessness.

I remember a stand-up comedian years ago joking that people crossing the border would be on the lookout for terrorists, because they realized what would happen if any got through.
"Senor! Senor! (pointing frantically) He no speak Spanish!"

Walls can work for small, well patrolled areas. Its just not the best way to secure a 2,000 mile long border in which much of it is in very remote rugged territory. FYI there was no wall between most of East and West Germany. In fact it was pretty easy to sneak across. I think people stayed mostly because of, not having anywhere to go in the West, and threats to their family if they left.

That's always been my understanding, yes.

Yeah and we all know how well the wall worked in Pacific Rim.

<snip>

Also, Pence sat there and let Trump fall into the abyss without a single comment. He may as well have pushed Trump for all the "help" he provided. Clearly he was trying to show how "presidential" he was in comparison to the gibbering orange ape to his left. Expect some backroom maneuvering now...

Maybe Trump will fire him.

Another very bad terror attack in France. We are going to strengthen our borders even more. Chuck and Nancy must give us the votes to get additional Border Security!

What the hell does one have to do with the other?

How could there be any doubt that a wall across our southern border would protect us from the hordes of yellow-jacketed French terrorists trying to get into the U.S.?

Also, I have a really nifty charm for keeping elephants away. As near as I can tell it has worked great.

The Democrats and President Obama gave Iran 150 Billion Dollars and got nothing, but they can’t give 5 Billion Dollars for National Security and a Wall?

What those numbers really prove is that if you build a wall, some people will still find a way over or under it, but most will simply go around it. Trump admitted in the meeting that his wall wouldn't be continuous, so as "border security," it's only a notch or two above just having speed bumps and Keep Out signs on the roads.
