I take back any claim that Trump was not owned yesterday. His supporters were not owned and think he did great. Reports are Trump was quite upset afterwards.

Seriously Trump would maybe be a pitiful and even sympathetic creature if he was capable of even a brief momentary flash of any type of self awareness or introspection.

This isn't passion for a cause which is at least respectable in the abstract regardless of the cause. It's not disillusionment or disenfranchisement or bitterness none of which are good but all of which are at least understandable and have their place in small amounts in the psyche of a well adjusted person.

This is just a deep reflexive fear and hatred of the world for no reason and worse for no goal. Negative emotions aren't "negative" in most people because they spur action to a goal. Negative emotions that don't mean anything and don't lead to anything are just toxic and damaging.
 
ABC news did an article checking trump's claims about the drops in illegal

According to DHS, the “wall” in San Diego was built in 1992, and, the agency spokesperson told ABC News, “Illegal traffic has dropped 92 percent over the past 23 years.”

DHS tells ABC News, El Paso border security was built in 1993 and afterward illegal traffic “dropped 72 percent in one year and 95 percent over 22 years.”

DHS officials said that the Tucson structure was built in 2000 and Yuma construction started in 2005. DHS officials said that illegal traffic has dropped in Tucson by 90 percent in the past 15 years, and by 95 percent in nine years.

As gross a misrepresentation of the truth as this is - appearing to claim credit for something he had nothing to do with and omitting the time frame for the percentages quoted - this strikes me more as a prepared, deliberate, structured lie, with a planned back-up 'what i said was (technically) true', atypical of trump's usual outright falsehood. The kind of thing you'd expect from an oily Stephen Miller-type.

Yes the wall is stupid, silly, racist, ecologically damaging, a total waste of resources, and wouldn't work for its supposed function regardless. Yes all very true and very good.

But... but... I'm just gonna throw this out there.

I wonder if those stats were the info written so bigly on his crib sheet? I can totally see those numbers being provided to him but not the time frame, and him having no curiosity as to the time frame. He sure as hell wasn't going to expend any effort to find out for himself.
 
Wait... a border wall in Tucson? Are they beefing up security at the Phoenix seaport too?
 
I’m guessing this really means Nogales, you know, the place that is actually on the border.
 
I think it would be interesting to also look at figures on illegal traffic in areas that didn't put up walls over those same time periods.

In other words, did the walls actually lower traffic overall, or just shift it to un-walled areas?

I'd suspect a full wall would end up evening the numbers out and causing the current walled areas to see a rise. Couldn't speak to overall numbers, though.

Crossing my fingers we don't get an actual crisis during his presidency. Imagine him as POTUS when they placed missiles on Cuba.

"Removing missiles? Why? How do I make money off of that?"

I'm curious as to what "illegal traffic" actually means, and if it's illegal how do the authorities know how much is going on?

For Trump, of course, it'll be enough that they're "good figures".
