Cont: The Trump Presidency 11: Insert something funny

I wonder if this event was supposed to distract from The PDJT's not getting the TIME magazine award. "Hey, I'll have this meeting and everybody will be talking about that instead!"

What he didn't count on was what came out of that meeting was far worse than anything he could have imagined. It seems like this is the first time he was in a meeting in public where he was outnumbered. (Pence of course did not figure in at all this time.)

I think he thought it would make him look presidential and willing to work across the aisle. He didn't count on Pelosi and Schumer somewhat standing up to him. Especially when Schumer said "you exaggerate". Chuck could have just said you lie.

Could you give a little indication about what being 'owned' means in this context?

I know there was a meeting between Trump and Pelosi where issues of funding came up, and that Trump seemed to be OK with a government shutdown. Was that what you were referring to?

Here's the good parts:

I think that's coming. I remember how long it took for the news media (Ok, CNN) to get around to using the word "lie" instead of something softer. Now they don't even use the euphemisms any more.

I wonder why they took so long? I also wonder why they keep up the idiotic narrative that "both sides do it" when it comes to the partisan politics, dirty tricks, and criminal activity that the Republicans engage in.

Washington Post has a new category for their fact-check now, it's the bottomless Pinocchio. Trump was the reason for this new one.

From another forum: Pence is the elf on a shelf in that scene. :sdl:

Trump was so "nuh-uh! I can boss you around because I'm the POTUS".

I hope the coal industry fills Trump's stockings with nothing but coal Christmas morning. No worries; it will be 'clean' coal.

It isn't like impeachment can happen. As long as the base supports him republican senators simply won't convict him. And they are all totally primed to ignore any facts in favor or what ever truth they are told to believe.

Slight correction: After January, impeachment can happen with the Dems controlling the House. What you mean is that conviction in the Senate can't happen. I agree. But that does not mean that impeachment should not happen. Just impeaching him carries a permanent black mark.

Actually, I'm kinda in the same boat as Joe here. I'm not sure what process brings the most justice but of this I am sure: Trump and his fellow abettors have to pay a VERY steep price for what has transpired. That price must include monetary, civil and political penalties Some may happen before Dump leaves office; others afterward. It doesn't matter much to me given that nobody gets off easy.

And what the GOP and Dump's base might do is completely irrelevant. They're gonna twist reality completely out of shape in any case so the USA should proceed with the course of justice and the mouth-breathers can take the hindmost.

Here's another: apparently Google had to explain to congress why an image search for the word "idiot" turns out pictures of Donal Trump.

I tried it, and it actually does. That should brighten your day.

I did too. The first ~30 images were of Dump. Actually made me smile.

ETA: Trump never learns because he never listens. I noticed every time Pelosi tried to explain something to him, he just interrupted and repeated the same thing over and over again. He's as dense as a brick wall and as interested in learning as one.

That's what most struck me when reading that transcript. Seeing and reading the words makes it so clear that he doesn't say anything of substance and what dreck he does say just gets repeated over and over and over and ........

The Art of the Deal my ass. He couldn't negotiate his way out of a wet paper bag.

You mean where she gave up because she couldn't have it?

The absence of decision. Rather than deciding if new issues should be legal or illegal, simply don't have the government form an opinion on it.

Bob, I'm not sure you're aware of this but people can actually see what you post after you hit the "Submit Reply" button. With that thought in mind may I suggest you use the "Preview Post" until you wear it out.
